still no letter from the council regarding the allotment so phoned them (did I say I was eager ) and they said they were sure there were plots available so gave me the wardens num to call later today
Grrrrr, I had a lovely reply all sorted and then my iPad decided to play silly buggers
good luck tomorrow SB- remember to check how far you are away from the water source, what may already be on the plot fruit and veg wise, and the same with weeds. See what the neighbouring plots look like and whether they seem well tended or not. It might be an idea to take a trowel amd if you can find a dry-ish bit of soil, have a little dig and see what type of soil you have.
take lots of photos! A- to show us and B- so you can remind yourself and by looking at the pics, you can formulate a very rough plan in your head
Gg I'd say it needs longer to rot down. It should be nice, crumbly black stuff and not lumpy, others may not agree though...
Read in AG today, Farm Terrace Allotments in Watford are going to start a petition which aims to save UK allotments from over zealous councils who want to develop allotments for building on. It hasn't been started yet but may lead to a debate in House of Commons to make it harder for councils to close allotment sites for building development . Sounds like a good idea, what do you guys think, .
I'd hate it if our site closed, not that it's threatened
On a more positive note, looks like the weather will be dry here tomorrow, I feel a morning on the plot coming on
Will take lots of photos for you guys I'm near Portsmouth Gardengirl.
Zoomer44- I think allotments are very important and should not be built on, I think there should be more available especially as gardens are getting smaller with new houses or some houses actually don't have any gardens.
