Gardengirl , yes the people known , the Allottment Ass has been contacting everybody , which had not been easy , they also had a meeting in the a local pub which I and others not on the committee attended , we are going to get in touch with Police to offer a reward ,plus posters in the villages ,  what we want to do is to stop them coming back , we fell it is local teenagers because it is in semi rural location , so would have to known where it is ! One of the sheds burnt down had a petrol mower in it , others had rotarators , as I say silly things stolen !image

Must not dewl on subject need to more foreward , bought lots of garlic and onions for Autumn planting , not going to put any in spring as they don't seem to do so well

    Also bought some spring bulbs

have been clearing out green house , used compost taken to plot as soil improver which I took up this afternoon , moved some bits ready for horse tail weed killer spraying on Saturday and relayed some slabs flat on sand image

  • GWRS that must of been difficult contacting everyone, would not keep big equipment in the shed  - you have been busy clearing out and cleaning

I have a few bulbs to plant in a wire frame crate that I rescued from the allotment rubbish before it went that someone did not want which I will line with weed matting fill with compost and bulbs -  give me something nice for spring

Do any of you grow broad beans?  I am going to try them but don't know when to do them have only sown in spring before

  • Plant pauper how is the garden going? or the door collecting?

Been planning the slope on my shed with the height I can have tricky doing, still collecting pallets and measuring them,  just trying to figure out of the pallets I have rough width and height will have to cut some of the pallets smaller

Nice sunny day today hope it is like that all weekend

I grow Broad beans , last year for first time planted some in Autumn and they did much , much better than those planted in the spring , so will do again but I did put colushes over them , I will look up the variety for you

Also put in spring onions as well , unprotected and again did really well image

You have to try different things to see what's work

  • Got some broad beans (loads for a good price) from allotment shop today called aquadulce - they said I could do them now so will try soon

Yesterday went to the allotment plot cut down some weeds, found another frog I left it in the grass this time and took lots of cardboard to cover the plot

Collected up brambles that were cut down now in garden waste bin, my sunflowers flowering and asters also harvested a cauliflower that was going into small bits and a sweetcorn

Went collected and took apart long pallet planks today got about 15 just need to remove the nails and lots of cardboard last of there pile hope they get more, all cardboard put on allotment plot to keep the weeds down and a few planks of wood on top

Had a good day yesterday at allottment , repaired shed window , then stuck Perspex on top of glass , also repaired shutter on window

2 police came and gave us an update , we walked around the plot as items taken from one shed where dummed on another as well as damage

on a posative note we found bolt cutters and sledgehammer throw in adjoining hedges  /ditches which the police took away to see if any finger prints can be taken

o/h did some weeding and harvested last cauliflower , runner beans , celery ,cabbage , carrots and lettuce

we where give 4 pallet collars so divided up a large plot into yes you guessed it 4 sections . Also sprayed more horse tail

it was a beautiful sunny day , todays not been bad , been doing gardening at home

Gardengirl , you can also put in Peas in the Autumn to give you an ealy crop but we would need to protect it , depends where you are image

Went to another industrial park today as they advertised on Gumtree free pallets kinda half ones so managed to get 20 of them in the car, there was another person there before us with a van and trailer picking up loads must of been a good 60 plus

These ones are good for fencing around allotment plot pic on pallet thread

GWRS did not know you can do peas may try them, did the police give you any shed notices?           I have picked up some but they are for Hampshire I could send to you but you could cut the bottom bit off if you want any

  • I can't see a pallet now without thinking of your shed. Saw two lovely clean (but tiny) ones today as I was chasing up a man on a tractor with a "hedgemower" attachment on it. I was tragically happy to see him. He, on the other hand, thought I was a complete nut!!! My big hairy hedge monster now looks like someone actually cares!!! Hurrah! My overgrown "used to be a lawn" is now well below knee high so all in all a good couple of days.

My door collecting is coming on a treat as well. I have enough for about a 10'x10'. It's not my next project but the one after. My jetty has to be built first so I'm on the lookout for floating things. image

My gardening plan, if you could call it that, is a little bit of maintenance, a little bit of renovation (cos bits are badly neglected as the previous owner wasn't in the best of health) and big dreams for the future. seems to be working so far.

Gardengirl , thank for your kind offer but the Police are going to bring some poster for our sheds . We have been in touch with crime stopper and we are offering a reward for information , been on a couple of local web sites as well

we found a sleghammer in the hegde and bolt cutters in a ditch which the police took away to see if they could get finger prints , actually impressed how seriously they are taking it , considering what you read in the papers

been to allottment today , planted a new strawberry bed , cleaned up cauliflower & brocolli bed plus a little fire in bin

There is a allottment committee meeting next week but I will be away so spoke to secretary about improving security

still got to redo a gate which they smashed and finish repairing shed 2

tomorrow going to tidy  garden before hols on Sunday

o/h is going to pickle some runner beans , idea from fridays g/w never done it before , in fact o/h dosn't like bean

peas yes will put some in this Autumn as well , let us known how you get on image
