  • BuzzieB no need to be envious your turn will come too! Thanks for the advice GWRS will go to GC tomorrow saying that the Greenhouse people have got a sale on too so am keeping an open on the website too.

Roy-good luck with Homebase regarding your paint, I had a similar problem and they wouldn't exchange etc. I have never bought paint from again although do buy gardening stuff and have picked up really cheap plants.

Popped to the plot and did some more digging and found a row of rhubarb-previous owner had planted the label too-Timberly early- lovely.

Weyplotter - I've a home made potting bench in my GH down one side.

Homebase also sell bare pine wooden shelving units in the household section which I use for staging in the Spring for seed trays, each shelf holds four trays. The four shelved units need a bit cutting off the top though to fit into the GH  They're a lot cheaper than purpose made staging and if stained with wood preserve, will last.

I also cut one down and made shelving to fit on top of the potting bench. These double up after plants have been planted out and are then put on the floor to lift pots and grow bags off the floor. Happy growing.

We've just had our lottie fee's put up, can't complain though mines up by £3 to £63 but got lots of freebie's on it.

I've got until the end of February to vacate the old plot. Hoping to get there at the weekend.

I have a walk in fruit frame for my soft fruit on the allotment but have increased the number of strawberry plants and now have an overflow on the soil just outside the frame.  Does anyone know where I can buy plastic covered metal poles and plastic joints to construct a temporary low level frame for these strawberries.  I have got plenty of netting but just need the framework to drape it over.  I have tried canes in the past but do not have success with my construction skills.

Have you thought about screwing some battens together to make a frame image

Thanks GWRS - my walk in frame is an Agriframe and was donated by my Dad - they are very very expensive so I was hoping to go down the cheaper route as this framework will be more temporary.

Thanks Edd - after seeing your idea I have just remembered that I have some old blue firm plastic water pipe stored at the side of the house so maybe I can utilize this with your above mentioned joints.  Make do and mendimage
