HI all, lovely day here but I am at workimage hope to get an hour at my plot tonight before dark.

Thursday night went to Allotment Association prize evening and got a Highly Commended certificate for the New Tennant section! imageJudges said "they were very impressed with the large selection of produce in a small area and the vibrant colour of the flowers" Had my photo taken with the Mayor of Cheltenham so will post it when it arrives!  Cant compete with the over 60's catagory who literally live on their plots and spend all day polishing their carrots lolimage Happy weekend

    Well done Ginagibbs

Think I did too much the other day on the plot, my back played up for a couple of days. Back at work tomorrow and have physio later in the week so I've taken it easy over the weekend.

Cycled to the plot today to collect some gourds I've been drying for 12 months. The plan is to paint them. Some have gone black but the seeds inside still aren' t rattling yet.

    Will try pellets in jars.
  • Ginagibbs that is brilliant

Excited cause going to my plot tomorrow not been there for a bit going to try and start digging where the shed will be going

Took a few more pallets apart yesterday

Thanks for pictures , also interesting to see what others are doing

spent yesterday at allottment, fog didn't lift all day , air damp as well so lit a small fire while having lunch

dug 3 small beds over and put manure on them , as a it delivered free of charge from local stables and you just help your self , the same as shredded material , renewed a couple of paths

started to sort out strawberry bed it is a bit over grow

tidied up carrot and celery beds as well , a good tidy up although still lots to do

Gardengirl have you decided what you are going to put down as the base for your shed?

no gardening today need to prepare for meeting tomorrow

hope you are all keeping well and have a good day image

  • GWRS going to put down weed matting then use large pallets that I have 4 of them put together when at the plot for base of shed, I have a few breeze blocks that I will put under them that I sourced in a skip

Got to the allotment plot for a few hours today even with it spitting down - done some more digging   - first time I paid for my plot yesterday for the whole years rent and it went up 20p a rod

GWRS do you have one of those fire pit things - do they make smells like a fire bin or are they less smelly?   nice you got a load of muck delivered to the plot

Hello this what it looks like , took picture last year , take a bit of wood from home , paper , fire lighters and away it goes , once the wood is burning very little smoke , when finished put hot ash in fire dustbin , helps in winter if cold / damp while having lunch if at allottment for the day

one could make one image I am sure you will have lots of bits of wood left over from shed building
