Zoomer44 that is terrible, hope you will recover

I say your plan A was a good idea sow the seeds that will grow fast and the slower ones go with option B buy plug plants, take things easy

Ginagibbs still not sure yet about the plot

Stagbeetle have you got any more pics of your plot?  sounds as though you are making progress

some bits of the plot are about 50 cm high in ground and some 10 cm and some flat does go up and down in lots of heights

Thanks everyone. I don't remember much about what happened, couldn't get out of bed on the Saturday due to the most unbeleivable headache and then woke up in intensive care on the Tuesday. I'm alot better than I was, just very weak and the body won't do what the mind is telling it to.

I've sown quite alot of seeds this afternoon. Plan  B sounds the way to go for GH plants. Sown in modules/tray's - leeks, turnip, swede, celeriac, beetroot, chad, sunflowers and nasturgium. Needed a two hour nap in the middle...I won't be able to do that on the plotimage.

Gg - you might have hidden raised beds. I found lots of stone paths just buried below the surface on my new plot.

Also, once you start digging up the weeds and brambles you'll find you can easily level off the ground or you might decide on raised beds in which case some of the excessive soil can be used to fill them.

I been painting my raised bed new wood at home today as they weather was dry and the bed will get replaced soon just need to empty out the temporary plants in the veg bed

Zoomer44 I asked the council lady how many people had been on that plot and she emailed back saying 3 people have had the plot since 2013,  but as the plots got changed around in a different direction before that can't say how many before that

But that is a few people so they have not done that well with it, a plot person near by said a lady was on there so she cleared a bit and put that blue sheeting down lots of weeds under that now

Hi GG, dont be too put off by that, people come and go for different reasons and many dont realize what hard work clearing a plot can be. As Zoomer says, you could have hidden raised beds or paths, hence the unevenness in the ground levels. Mine was like that, but once you start digging and clearing you will probably find some sort of layout.  Hard to tell till its all strimmed and stripped back.

Have you asked if you could have it rent free for a bit and have a go at clearing it ?

What sort of soil have you got in your area?

Do the other plots look productive, if so then you should be ok, or do raised beds. Good luck with your decision either wayimage

Ginagibbs not ask the council that yet

The soil is ok can dry out on top by the look of it, crumbly well drained by the look of it, sandy ish

The plot next door had a large beetroot like normal sized shop brought ones not even managed that here in the garden veg patch, not sure about most veg as some plots dug around that area

I have walked over the plot think it may just be ground up and down with the weeds on top, did do a small bit of digging to check the soil in a few patched found worms and some potatoes with a bit of scab ok size

Although it doesn't look much but when you are there, it does look like we have done a lot of work. We took up the stump near the shed as we wanted to put a table there and also it was getting in the way., boy did it take a lot of work.
