  • Hope you are ok Ginagibbs.

i phoned the council and they were lovely, the rent is due in Feb so I'm ok for time to clear the plot. I've so far taken the strawberries and 2 raspberry canes. Need to take the rest and tools. I did think about sharing a plot but still thought it would be easier for raised beds at home and the spot has a lot of light.

The pics of the plots look great.

Gardengirl, thanks for the info, I think we will use pegs and netting once we've dug over ready for planting this year then once the season ends will look for holly branches as Gina suggested .

Lovimg the pics of your plots Zoomer and Gina, look fab image

Oh Gardengirl, almost forgot to say, I watched your video on YouTube ...good size plot  , can't wait to see your shed!

I didn't manage to get to the potato fair last week as I was poorly but sis in law kindly got some for me, can't remember which varieties now but I will let you know!

For those who are able to 'get out there' this weekend, happy gardening  image

I've started chitting my early potatoes today image this pleases me muchly image

what does not please me is the constant, constant, constant rain. How am I supposed to start digging if the ground is so blimmin wet?! All I want is two or three dry days on the bounce. Surely it's not too much to ask?!

Hello went to the potato day yesterday lots to choose from and lots of stalls to look at the booklet which has got the lists of potatoes in is so small in writing cause there are so many spuds

I came away with more spuds than I was going to get due to one potatoes being in a large net bag and not sold loose  - Albert Bartlett purple majesty purple right through and when cooked will stay purple which will be so cool

Brought seeds of  Runner beans - Celebration - salmon coloured flowers and Polestar, and dwarf Runner bean Hestia - not tried dwarf ones before

    Dwarf French beans Tendergreen

Peas Early Onward and Kelvedon Wonder

    Sweetcorn Incredible F1

Potato list for all you who want to know -  what I brought 5 of each spud

    : 1st early Casablanca organic

: 2nd early Milva organic        -  had last year liked done well so got again

    : 2nd early Bonnie

: 2nd early Cosmos organic spuds  -  thought being the year of the cosmos I would have potatoes as well as flowers

    : Main crop Pink Gypsy

: Main crop EM1O Marys Rose organic  like the boat Mary Rose

And : Main crop 34 spud Albert Bartlett purple majesty

Also brought a nice cake Victoria sponge, blackcurrant jam and a metal bucket with pictures of red peppers and with a few holes in bottom - thought that would be good to wash veg in like the potatoes

Done a seed swap now have Chamomile flowers to grow, Fennel Di Firenze, Turnip Purple Top Milan, Celeriac Monarch so will try these seeds all in date packs

Thanks Woo2 I too can't wait to see my shed , Stagbeetle take pics and put on here of your new veg area please, Zoomer44  you have done well with the plots for not having them that long - Thanks for the tip re Aldi

Found out who is going to be the second site rep now stayed the same person will just have to see if I can find her one day never seen her before so I voted for the man on a plot near me

Fruitcake know what you mean Weather  - was a nice sunny day yesterday for the potato day today had slight rain and dry for the RSPB bird count

  • Some how I have been reserved a plot and sent an email offering me another plot 169b on Weston Allotments same site I am first on the waiting list  -  it is now available -  I know that was the other plot I had a chance to look at when I was deciding on the plot I have now did not know it was reserved for me -  different person on Council has emailed me one I was in contact to start with - May well look at it again just to be nosy not sure I could do two plots

Not sure what to do - question for all, with Aldi and the fruit trees ( pear trees) Do I go get one or not?   Do you need more than one tree to have fruit or just one me not sure with pear trees? or which I would go for?

I still have lots of muscle pains - I have no room at mo ready on the allotment plot as I would have to clear space (want the fruit down the edges of the plot) other than that putting the tree in an used potato bag with compost still in  -   I know they are cheap and a good buy but not sure what to do

    HELP PLEASE

Hello Gardengirl , I believe you only need one Pear tree , personally I would not put it used potatoe bag , watering could be a problem I think

Do you really have room ? Or will it take up to much space , no point in buying it just because it is cheap in my opinion , sorry not much helpimage

I  planted 3 Apple , 1 plum & 1 Quince and as yet not had much back , I assumed it would be long term

Been up to plot today but only to take some wood for another new gate , did think about going up again and doing some work , sunny but really cold today image

  • GWRS space will be available when lots of digging done and fence has been put up, I do have one apple tree on the plot and two apple trees in pots at home which will go to the plot

was sunny today but cold like you say - would be a long term thing the tree
