Gardengirl , Terry Waltons  book is really intersesting , it is broken down into months , was going to read a month at a time but as it is easy reading , now on June image

Allotment shop , do they have lots of different stuff ? Have a good day image

  • GWRS sounds good thinking of getting the book

The allotment shop sells - seeds, compost, canes, bug away stuff, lots of feed they get weighed and bagged, grass seed, netting, weed matting and other things like that seed trays, lots of stuff,   some one sells eggs from their plot in the shop and some things I can get 20% off as paid for a membership card to get discount

I want to get some seeds and perlite and collect my spuds and have a nose around

  • Hi, Went to the allotment this morning into the shop, took some sneaky pics will upload them another time

Here is what I brought  in pic and got some eggs and a green 10ltr watering can as they had them this time - also collected my pentland javelin potatoes got 1 kilogram which makes 10 potatoes now put chitting on the window sill as well as the free ones from Wyevale thank to GW mag voucher

Then went to the plot had to remove the tarpaulins one a bit ripped and trying to blow a way,  was extremely windy out today

Spotted the purple sprouting broccoli with the purple bit in pic below - will have to try this veg some when looks pretty

    image

Also noticed that the China mans plot has had three fruit trees ripped apart snapped off about 20cm tall so just the stalks - we are well shocked what people can do so upsetting bet they were going to fruit well this year, think looking at my pictures from before and now that 2 of my long planks of wood have been stolen from in-between my pallets

And they had a notice for a potato day even though they sell potatoes well it is 2 days next weekend 13th and 14th looked up the place it is in Salisbury in Courtens garden centre  so think I will go not to get potatoes but to have a look around at another potato day a lot less spuds than the potato day we went to

That PSB needs harvesting to promote further flower heads to develop.

Gardengirl brocolli looks good and lots of purchase always exciting image

Been up to day but repairing fence due to wind damage , bit behind with digging at moment but will catch up eventually

Couple of pallets left in car park for couple of weeks now , so as the rule is anything in car park is any bodies so had them

Did good deed though put bark chipping on road way into plot , chap got stuck earlier , 2 of us had to give him a push with some carpet under wheels , he has a disabled daughter in wheel chair in back of van , so vechle a bit heavy  image

    Happy gardening all image

  • Hi all, its been ages since I visited my plot but the weather has been vile and we have a lot going on at home. Went up yesterday though and I am chitting my spuds in the polytunnel as I dont have any window ledges (we have floor to ceiling windows so I would have to to put them on the floor ) Some of them had already started sprouting cos I had them stored in a bag in the kitchen! image I am amazed the polytunnel is still standing in all this wind we are having. We tied some bricks to the frame with rope so it seems fine.

I managed to cover some of my unused beds with black plastic to dry out the soil and get it warmer for sowing in a month or so's time.Roll on spring, I hav'nt sown any thing yetimage

Think now I have new neighbours next to my plot but sideways behind me if you know what I mean there is evidence of digging

Here is some pics of the Allotment Shop I took

    image

Compost area just outside main shop in shelter and area to the left for fleece, weed matting and other stuff on rolls for cutting and lots of seats

    image

Here is how it looks now with the potatoes on the table, seeds at back

    image

All the feeds and other bits

    image

Lots of pots, bean seeds at the back shelf and peoples potato orders in the brown paper bags on the shelf, canes in far left corner, where the entrance is to the shop

    GWRS hope this helps
