Was hoping to plant the spuds but it's rained most of the day, hope to get them in by Monday. Going to start the sweet corn hopefully and peas. I need to buy canes and start to harden off the sweet peas and start the sunflowers again.
Hello everybody , back of hols and been up to the A today , didn't do much , repaired fence , empty compost bin blown across plot
Dug up some leeks , cleriac and kale , kale starting to go to seed
going up there for full day tommrow , weather forcast good , lots to do and the weeds are coming now that it had warmed up
Potatoes can be planted from March to May ,subject to the weather of course , I am putting my earliers in now , 2nd earlies in week or so then main , I like to stagger it
O/H has put some seeds in , some in g/h and some in conservatory
I also did the first cut to the lawns with blade raised ,
Happy gardening everybody , feels like spring has sprung
Well after all the rain yesterday it was nice to get outside today. First early spuds were put in containers 2 weeks ago, today the second earlies were done and the mains will be in another couple of weeks . Sown a lot in the greenhouse today veg wise and flowers and have lettuce and rocket through that were sown just a couple of weeks ago.
I started of my moneymaker toms in the propogator and they became very leggy. quite quickly, drooping over each other so I've transplanted them into pots but they are still looking sickly so think I will have to sow some more.
Onions and shallots have been planted...... Oh I do love this time of year.
This weekend, or more likely, today has been a busy one- we started digging some more at Cluckingham and moved some concrete kerb stones to where we wanted them, and spent pretty much most of the day watching the chickens! I got some broad beans planted up yesterday.
Today we have been to the other site and planted two trees that we have been waiting to tet planted for ages but have had neither the time or the weather. My broad beans there are flowering Then back to Cluckingham for more digging and chicken watching.
Lots of visits at Cluckingham from various little people this weekend, and it has been enormously fun to watch the kids and chickens together

Fruitcake sound like chicken watching enjoyable
Where there lots of others up the allotments?
Strangely- not. There were two other plots being worked on at both sites. I expected loads more!
