Hi everyone, haven't been on here for quite a while so it was nice to see some familiar names and read all your posts image

We have been lucky in as much as we haven't had any snow yet....fingers crossed....but it is soooooo cold brrrr. Also the ground is so wet after all the rain we've  been having. I have the same problem as Fruitcake regarding our chooks, their 'run' is like a mud bath and I've slipped on a couple of occasions resulting in some very choice  words image !

As we cleared the beds in our garden allotment area last year we were inundated with cats using the area as a toilet ( there seems to have been an increase in the local cat population over the last 12 months) It seems all that freshly dug soil was like heaven to them. As the weather got wetter and the soil got sodden they decided to use the bark paths instead! Don't quite know what to do to discourage them, any ideas?

Hoping to get outside, weather permitting ( and if the cold doesn't get to my arthritic shoulder too much! ) this weekend as well as planning what to plant and where this year. Must also sort through my seeds to see what I need to buy...I love the planning as well as the actual gardening. Hope those of you that manage to get to your plots, have an enjoyable time!

Woo2 , cats toilets , we have some gravel and they liked that , I think they thought it was cat litter , somebody suggested putting dried Teasle flowers  down , these self seed in the garden , they are a bit spikee  and it worked , much better than cat pepper , so find something spikee , best of luck image

The only way is to get a cat yourself , I did suggest this to other half but as she doesn't like them , the answer was a bid No image

Hi Woo2, nice to see you back hereimageimage

Cats! we get them pooping in our raised beds, I put holly cuttings on my beds now to stop them, seems to work wellimage

No snow down here in the South West, but we have a good frost this morning, should kill off all the nasties and break up the soil nicely.

    Hello again,
My allotment was frozen solid this morning, so couldn't do much except admire the frost in the sunshine. image

Hi, nice to hear/see what others are doing...there's a ferral cat on our site...not seen it recently but in the summer I kept finding dead mice on the same flag stone... and when the site is quiet a cat walks up and down the track...

Gg...Our AGM is next month and we vote at the meeting, it's gonna be a paper ballot this year.

I can only get to the plot, weekend mornings at present weather permitting, here's hoping for a rain free weekendimage

  • Hello,

    Hope everyone is well image

We have decided to give the allotment up, which is a shame but I have to be realistic and I can't manage it on my own as well as work and look after my boys. Also last year I neglected my garden, so this year we are sorting the garden out and putting raised beds in so that it will be easier to manage on my own as dh doesn't always have the time.

Thank you for all your encouragements throughout last year image
