Is blight not airborne? I had it on my late spuds last year but I won't let it put me off planting any this year- just not in the same bed

i have found a chicken house! It's being delivered on Monday image

now I just need the time and weather to get the house and big run put up

Had blight at home in potatoe bags just cut the tops of and spuds in ground OK

not had it at allottment yet !

Seed potatoes ordered from Kings not arrived yet , egg boxes saved for chitting

Fruitcase best of luck with hen house , people who have chickens on our allottments are using " rat proof " feeders to stop the problem

Hard frost last night so decided to cut some wood up at home , will go up to allottment over weekend

    happy gardening everybody image

More seeds arrived today and me washing lots more pots and trays

Was a hard frost GWRS last night,  today all grass was white

sure the frost will get rid of the blight - hope the slugs and bugs like green and black fly get got

Roy is there some other plots on the site attended to?   not just you

Been looking at the RHS site on blight, went to a results page talking about 13 and A2 way above my pay grade. It is airborne but also present in rotting potatoes left in the ground I'v had a lot of them.Just hope for the best. GG seems to be a few empty plots around the place, also some good ones .

Roy good if there are other on your site, the weather effects it, you get blight from hot weather then lots of wet I think and more on main crop potatoes, you should be fine growing in bags with fresh compost

only one week and I will have brought my potatoes -  some for bags and some for a raised bed  - not sure what ones I will get

Been up the Allottment today , lovely and sunny , lots of odd little jobs done plus repairing fencing

Mulched around fruit trees and gooseberry bushes

Must do some serious digging soon , keep putting it off , keep finding lots of little jobs to do

Going to chain saw wood for the fire tomorrow , lumberjacking I call it !image

GWRS you just need the weather to warm up a small bit so not to hurt yourself when digging, I expect it was nice to go to your allotment

good that you got fence sorted

    Been on the plot today.

Took down an old shed before it fell down. Found the floor was being held up with 6 rusty tins. I kept putting my feet through the floor as the roof and sides came downimage.

We had blight on the allotment last year, it started on the plot next to mine, the guy didn't cut off the foilage so it went through everyone's plots like a bush fire. 1st and 2nd earlies put on a good show though, they're planted earlier than main crop and have usually done their bit underground by the time blight strikes.

Seed spuds all bought and chitting in the back bedroom...that's not to say...I might get some more...image
