Went to the plot to water GH and picked some more Tom's, lettuce. Onions are ready to pick most have now fallen over.
Need to plant out 2nd lot of Swede but may have left them to long in their modules. 1st lot were a white tubular, French variety which needed to picked small as they go stringy when cooked. These new ones are a yellow, round, French variety.
My brother has 50 flag stones I can have on account he is renewing his drive. He lives out of town though and with no trailer can only move 4 at a time in back of car and need someone at either end of the trip to load and unload. I can see this will be project in motion over sometime.
Been to the plot this week and trying to weed around the veggies. Another kind couple at the allotment have offered to strim the couch grass right down so that I can start to dig it over and the husband has started to do it already, I'm so lucky and it means I can dig it over and level the ground out as weed killer hasn't been working.
saw another fox this evening, a little skinny for healthy looking, we are not allowed to feed the foxes.
Gardengirl I don't know what type they are, they dont even match the pic on the front of the seeds! But I do know that I'll be buying a few packs of them when I go back next month! I'm hoping too that I'll be able to save some of the seeds from these. I'd have my entire garden and two allotments growing nothing but these if I had my way!
Gertie, glad you liked them. The seed packet called them Prado Red. I buy most of my seeds from a club in Victoria who specialise in heritage plants, so you might not be able to get them in the UK, but I'm sure there will be similar ones available somewhere.
They were a little over head height and the bees loved them.(unfortunately so did the rosellas) but I managed to do some seed saving before they were all gone. I'll be keen to plant more when the weather warms up.
our days are just starting to warm up - flannel shirt days!

if I've sent more than once. My apologies, but the submit button is still visible, so I don't think went before - here goes again
They look great the fluffy sunflowers, however you shouldn't bring seeds from abroad into the uk. If you tried that in Australia you would get a 1000 Aus dollar fine. It is to do with disease control.

Good luck Gertie. I'd be happy to send some my saved sees, but I think the quarantine laws would forbid it.
