Gardengirl, can't think of anything to add to Scroggin's list other than chard and possibly kale if we get a warm Sept/Oct.

July is usually the last chance to sow for most veg. I've sown some flowers for next year,  foxglove and sweet William, also  parsley which are still at seedling stage and  a guy on the A is also going to give me some spuds to put in, he seems to think I'll get a crop before the first frost?

You may still be able to get some plants from the GC.

Thanks Zoomer44 will try chard as well and look though my seeds see if I have kale not tried that before but might have a fee seed pack, not sure I have spring cabbage seeds

I have sown a few flowers some Sweet Williams, foxgloves - like you Zoomer44 want to have the sweet Williams on the allotment plot - also sown some wallflower, some hollyhock, forget me not, violas and sweet rocket mixed all in my nursery bed in garden

I still have spuds to plant as raised bed in veg area still being built

Ginagibbs that sounds the way with the picking and eating it is a healthy snack and keeps you going

    Hello everyone image

    how are you all?

Well done GWRS on all your plants!

well I still have my allotment and it's going ok, I'm getting runner beans everyday, we have had the odd raspberry but they are young plants and we have sweetcorn growing. The spuds did ok but some tasted a bit odd.

i have still only dug over half of the plot and need to clear the weeds from the other part, I think it's couch grass and lamb tongue weed (I think) so have been spraying it but it's not working but I want to clear it and put fertiliser on it.

Some pics but I am a bit embarrassed by it.

we have a fox that tried to take my bags and the second pic of the fox is how I would like my allotment to look like.

Stagbeetle just seen the pics is the fox on patrol does look like it needs food, your plot is coming along nicely and looks as though you get a lot of sun

With my plot I am going to try to have planting bed areas and bark chipping paths

Decided not to entre the show this year just go and look at others it's on Saturday afternoon, don't think I have much as some things bit neglected trying to sort out bits every where

Hello everybody just got home have been on holiday in Malta , 45 degrees and very parched , nice to see how green everything is

Going up to allottment tommrow to see how things are doing , hoping to harvest a few things image

The fox looked a bit thin , hope you have not got chickens on your site , only ever seen 1 fox in rural Lincolnshire but when I lived in Birmingham there where loads , we would put old cat fund chicken bits ect down the bottom of the garden for themimage

Just a thought Gardengirl - don't know whether your allotment site does it, but in my area the local tree surgeons are invited to drop all their wood chippings in several designated points, and after a few days in warm sunshine there are large piles of lovely dark chippings, absolutely perfect for the paths. It helps them and it certainly helps us - if you don't have this facility, perhaps a gentle mention to the Allotment Association will do the trick!

Ours does the same Pentille, I email the local tree surgeons and they drop wood chippings off, saves a fortune!image

Mr Fox looks a lot healthier than the mangey one on our site,  not seen him for a while though.

Stagbeetle, why dont you put some old carpet or tarpaulins over the weedy areas, it should suppress the weeds and make it easier to dig, you can even grow a crop of squash over it? Plus dont be embarrassed by your plot, Rome wasnt built in  a dayimage

You can still plant Chicory this month , never grown it but intend to give it a go

Going to have another go at Pak Choi

sun coming out ready for afternoon trip to allottment , unfortunatly have drive , about 10 minutes image

word of warning about carpet on allottment , rats and mice like to live under it so you need to be careful , we have had problems on our site where carpet has been left to long , in fact the Farmer that owns the site gets us commercial rat poison image
