Woo2 Bday wishes - sounds as though you have nice flowers take pics and nots of them for ideas - was a windy day here too
Hello Beaus Mum - Like a cut flower area may have a small one here in the garden
I have looked at seed catalogues noted down things I would like but not buying any this year (stopped myself buying seeds this year) as I have so many seeds - need to go though all those and organise them and get free ones from mags
GWRS sounds a good lot ordered there, I have a few packs of seeds past there date - by a year or two and have sown and grown them fine as long as they were stored well should germinate fine
BizzieB how is your allotment are you still sharing a plot as well as your new one
No, Gardengirl, I handed back my shared part to the others. As you know we were looking after the plot for a friend who is working abroad, due back in March, so apart from keeping the plot tidy I grew beans and corn, tried purple sprouting broc but the catapillars got them. With hindsight should have netted them sooner.
You were right, I did get to know the clay soil and found it easy to work on that plot so very different from mine. One day and tons of manure...
My allotment is dug over in beds with grass to walk on. Just waiting for the next break in the rain to finish putting manure on them. Must get it finished, tomorrow looks a better day.
Just read the compost thread and realise that my twiggy pieces will need to be cut up smaller. There's a good idea to put horse manure at the bottom of the compost bin to encourage worms. Will check that whilst I'm there, and take photos
GWRS, I'm looking to grow purple french beans, purple broc, mange tout, sprouts, courgette, beetroot and have decided on potato Apache (for roasting) and Nadine, and sweet pots (although may grow those at home)
By way of something different Florence Fennel. Considering barllota bean and rhubarb, already have raspberries in and want a cutting bed!
Will probably have to restrict the number of plants I finally put in.
Growing from seed is a first for me so can't help with dates but read that if stored out of damp and frost would be ok.
BizzieB , Fennel grew some this year for the first time only about half germinated , some should be ready to pick now
If I could only get up to the allotment , throwing it down at moment
sweet pots would be an interesting crop to grow , I have read about them grown in poly tunnels or down south , you will have to let us known how you get on
Another one here stuck in work while its lovely outside
I might be a bit weird here, but am I the only person who has no intention of growing sweet peas? I dont see the point; other than being pretty to look at, they dont really do anything else and its not as if you can eat the peas
Posts

Its sunny today but I am stuck indoors (at work),
not looking forward to the journey home, its race day at Cheltenham and traffic gets snarled up.
