BizzieB , blueberry bushes must be planted in Erisaceous compost put mine in open pots with some in the bottom of the hole , you can confirm this from the RHS site
great idea about sicky tape for sprout white fly , wondered if you could use those yellow sticky things that go in the g/h interestingly I have some purple sprouts and they are not effected , wonder why , is it the colour ?
Spent about 5 hours yesterday tidying the garden, planting bulbs and spring plants and moving a few perennials. (it got a bit neglected lately). Managed to get a couple of hours on my allotment doing a bit of weeding and digging and then hobbled home for a glass of wine and a hot bath. Fell asleep on the sofa halfway through Downton.
Decided to plant my asparagus at home instead, as I know there are no serious weeds and it does ok there.
Eeep! We've bren offered another plot on a different site! It's closer to home and roughly about the size of the one I've got now
but i worry that if we've got plots on different sites, we are gonna have problems with tools and such like. If we had two plots on the same site, we could help each other, and the tools will be on the same site, but it could be a long while before a plot comes up at the current site
the guy on the phone said that its in "decent" order but that could just mean that it's been cut back lol
edit- I can put chickens on that one *wees* we've had a chat and worked out that we can grow different stuff on each plot so we won't end up with too much of anything
Fruitcake that sounds so exciting - think if you have 2 sites with allotments on you could make more allotment buddy's, slight issue with tools I guess you sort out what you need each time you go there and may have to double up on some bits
do you get to have a look at the site before you decide if you are going to have it?
you can grow different things on each site soil may be different from one to other
We're taking it! We went and had a look just now and although it was not as light as we would have wanted, it was light enough for us to get the gist of it. It's a triangular plot that is in fairly good order, from what I could see there is an established rhubarb bed and quite a few raspberry plants.
That sounds great with already planted bonuses for you - glad you got to see it even if the light was going down
you will have to take pics do before and after bits and pics for us to see please
how many chickens are you planning to have - is there a limit on the site, think the person on the site I want a plot said 10 chickens that are allowed
i want five or six chickens. It's quite a small site and this plot is kind of in the middle of it all so I don't want anything to be too eyesore-y. My main issue at the mo is fresh water for them. There are three water troughs but no taps so unless I take a bottle round for them daily, I'm not sure how best to work it

Curious, another allotmenteer grows only purple veg: peas etc, seemingly trouble free.
Yes, I'm sure sticky hanging tape would work in the greenhouse. Worth a try.

White fly sticky tape sounds a good idea.
