Guess what I woke up to this morning? I'll have to dig out my walking boots for my trip to the village. Its blizzarding down!
Excellent news about your window and getting the grape vine pruned Busy - that will give you some peace of mind as you travel back to UK.
Last night was fun as we watched the two top teams battle it out to the finish. Interestingly, everyone kept their outdoor coats on as it was so cold in the Club room, I even had to keep my gloves on for most of the evening. Some of the questions were really obscure - as usual - but it was a great final. The buffet was sumptuous.
The snow here must have fallen after my milk was delivered as there were no visible tyre tracks or footprints in the snow.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I hope there isn't snow on our way to Norfolk from Portsmouth tomorrow. We will drive up France to the ferry tonight and stay in a hotel. Would have taken a night crossing but there wasn't one, winter timetable.
I hope Rubee feels better today.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
White stuff has descended here as well. Eldest not happy with her commute this morning and it's still coming down. Will try and nip out to the grit box later - we don't get our road gritted so I'll try and get 'our' bit of road done. It would help if we had a box a bit closer
Morning all. No snow here, not even frost although I would have expected it with minus 2 temperatures. Stay safe all those who have snow and have to go out. Safe journey today Busy and keep warm en route. Biglad, your next project could be to construct a big box and fill it with grit and site it near your house. In your spare time of course 🤭🙂 LB,,pleased you had a good night but I would have been frozen sitting there in the cold🥶
That's not a bad shout @Songbird-2 and a thought that has crossed my mind. We live about 2/3 up quite a steep, long road. There's a box right at the top, a box at the bottom and there was one half way up (just below us) when we moved in. However, it 'disappeared' when neighbours had their front garden landscaped years ago.
Walking back and forth over 100 yards with my bucket and spade isn't something I fancy (or have time for!) today.
Good morning everyone .Busy I am a little better but still under the weather .Thank you for asking . It’s minus 1 today.I will not be going out until I feel stronger.Had plenty of time to craft . Busy I hope your journey is uneventful, keep safe .LB do take care going out. Wrap up and keep warm .Hazel do keep warm. It’s minus 2 here also.Big Lad do take care gritting your part of the road .
Hello all recent arrivals. I'm now back from the village and hugging a mug. I dug out my hiking boots and walked up and by the time I got to the surgery I looked liked a snowman. I then proceeded to 'thaw' all over the floor and the nurse taking my blood had to grab loads of that huge paper sheeting they use, to mop up all the water. I felt awful and couldn't apologise enough. She was so nice and told me not to worry.
@Biglad, how about this for silliness regarding gritting the roads, despite the forecast warning of this snow yesterday, none of the roads around me have been gritted. Consequently, the traffic hold up is monumental. I do not have steep hills near me but the main lane is a rat run to the M6 and is normally gritted at the tiniest hint of frost. I think, that if this snow does not thaw and disappear before nightfall, it will be treacherous. We have had about 7cm of snow so far but a lot of it is now falling off the shrubs and trees outside my front window. This is proving huge entertainment for Cricket.
Good to hear you are feeling a bit better Ruby. Enjoy your crafting and keep warm.

I presume the local main roads have been gritted (as well as the bus route and school road on our estate), but we've always been left to fend for ourselves up here. I've looked at the forecast - nothing above 0 degrees until Saturday so I'm going to have to make at least one trip. Like you say, it will just get more and more treacherous after any overnight freezes. Even if I just grit our immediate area, it'll be of small benefit to us and anyone further up.
We have a large tub of De-icing salt @biglad and at the first hint of ice we sprinkle some down on the main walk areas. It’s very good. Could you not sprinkle something similar on your part if the road /driveway etc?
We’ve had snow this morning. Skies are full if it. Not as bad as some of you and it’s now stopped and is melting away.
A miracle has happened today…… I’ve received a phone call from docs surgery and have a telephone appointment made for next week. 😂
