Morning all.Awake during the night and it was so cold.Glad to be up now and have the heating on. My back is quite painful this morning . ( I can't even blame any gardening for it ). Four blackbirds are fighting it out between them in the garden for the fat balls ,with the little robin picking up the pieces from the soil. I feel like I've joined in with themπŸ˜‚
Topbird, that sounds a marvellous adventure but yes, you'll have fun deciding what clothes to take. You'll have a sensational time as I know you like these type of excursions.
LB, good that Cricket seemed to be okay during the night. Are you keeping her in for a couple of weeks to acclimatise her to her new surroundings?Β
Ante,, I'm pleased to hear the high winds have dropped there and the storm has passed. It certainly sounds a rough for week for you. Hope you can wind down now over the weekend.Β
Busy, take it easy today and mind how you go with replanting the other rose. Don't overdo it.
Rubee, how are feeling today? Any better? And OH?Β

Good morning Ante, T'Bird and Busy.
Ante, you were right! -2 is very cold! Poor Max not being able to have a run in snow but maybe your winter, as ours is not quite finished yet.
T'Bird, what a magical experience you will be having very soon. Going from the temps in Buenos Aires to those in Antarctica will be a real shock to the system! At least on your 2 day stop over after your visit you will have a chance to thaw out. I would love that kind of trip as the science aspect would be so interesting - not to mention being up close and personal with penguins. Early days to weigh up whether Cricket will be a cuddler, though he did give my arm a head butt yesterday when he jumped up beside me. He is mega frustrated he cannot get through the front window to get at the birds - and a little mouse I noticed the other day.
Busy, don't overdo all the work today - especially if you are not feeling A1. Indoor jobs might be OK and I know your keenness to get the rose in, but maybe that could wait until tomorrow?

Good morning Hazel - you - snuckered in there. Sorry to read that your back is painful. Time for you to have a rest day! Cricket is a boy Hazel and I was advised to keep him in the house for at least a month so the cat flap is locked. He does go and have a look through it though - it has a clear door - and he won't have any problem using it once he knows where his 'safe' places in the house are.

LB - if he's a head butter I'd lay odds on him being a cuddler, snuggler tooπŸ₯° Lovely - just lovely.Β

The real test will be if he lets you kiss his belly - that might take a few more weeks!

Hazel - take it easy today - no climbing ladders for you! Hope your back feels better soon. Getting your outside lights changed and maybe moved to a more accessible spot sounds like a plan. Wonder if you could get them fitted where they could be accessed from a window so any future bulb changes could be done from inside? Can't remember if you're in a house or a bungalow?

Hazel thank you for asking .OH is still blacking out but he tries very hard to get on with life .Β
Yesterday I had to use a walking stick to get to bathroom and back l felt so weak .I think it’s a bug . I have not had anything like it before. My temperature was quite high. I had to change my pjs twice during the night .Temperature isn’t as high this morning but still feel quit delicate .
Fortunately the freezer is well stocked . I am only having porridge at the moment .

I'm sorry you are feeling so under the weather @Rubee. Could it be Covid?

I may have a bug too, unless it was the mussels we had but I did make sure they'd boiled. Got tummy pains and the runs. It's still very cold, frost hasn't melted. I don't think I will be planting any roses today.

I hope I'm well on Tuesday, driving up to Caen for the ferry. Staying in a hotel overnight.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Rubee, that sounds like a very nasty bug you have. Don't leave it too long before contacting a doctor though. Keep the fluids up. Hope your OH's blackouts ease up. Is he under any stress I wonder? They tend to make our daughters blackouts more frequent and intense. He's a very brave man living with it.
Busy, you sound in the wars too so easy day for you.....orders!
Topbird, yes, that's the plan. We have contacted a chappie who is going to give us a price to renew units completely and hook him up again to the electricity. We are in a house and the lights are right outside the back bedroom windows. But we just can't reach them.
mas the windows open out to where they are. For the time being we have purchased a motion sensor light too put up just outside the patio doors to offer some light when we step outside.Β
Son and 23 are coming for a visit soon but doubt there will be any raucous play today.Β

    Busy ,sounds a bit like my bug . I don’t know if it’s Covid . I haven’t got any tests left .
I hope you are feeling better soon . Hazel stress is a factor in OHs blackouts .He worries about falling .He has fallen so many times and at eighty years old he takes such along time to get over the fall .

Oh dear. I'm so sorry to read about all the ailments besetting you, Ruby and Busy. Its strange how a lot of these things seem to strike just after the start of a New Year.
Poor you Ruby. It does sound like a fever. Best that you too have a quiet day - keep warm and take in plenty of fluids. Similar for you Busy. You need to be fit for next wekk's travel.
Hazel, you may have already though about this but when I had my security lights replaced, the electrician recommended 35W LED lights to replace the 500W halogen ones that were up. Just as effective but using far less electricity and I can vouch that they are excellent. Hope 23 brings Spikey along and gives you a less energetic day

LB, all the modern surety lights tend to have LED lights these days, thats we have discovered in our research. If you need halogen lights you have to go on-line to get them.( which we don't want to do) so the new light will be LED. Thanks anyway.
