Morning all,   similar weather here today, horrible heavy rain.Unfortunately we have to pop out  to local SM so it will be a quick visit.
No wind to speak of though, so the latest storm seems to have passed us by.

    Morning all.

Happy Birthday to your sister, LB.

It's a lovely sunny day, think I'll do some gardening this afternoon.

I've been packing crackers and presents to take to Son 2 tomorrow when all the family will be there for lunch.

.Have just tried another photo and noticed it was when I press "Post " that the picture reverted to a very small size. I wonder why?

Good afternoon all. Had a lovely morning at my sis' despite the M6 being very busy. Of course people are back at work today so it was to be expected I guess. My nephew and his family called round too and I got the biggest hug ever from my great nephew - the one who was skiing when it was his 16th birthday on the 19th.
Sis showed me a letter my BIL had received from Kensington Palace - written by the equerry to TRH the Prince and Princess of Wales, thanking BIL for looking after Princess Kate during the rugby world cup in France. Such a wonderful keepsake. She was highly amused by her 'motor oil' @Topbird so I will wait and see what she makes of it. I've told her to report back.
Thank you for the birthday wishes for Sis, Hazel. I'm not sure about your picture sizes. I didn't notice anything when I posted this morning's pic and I always shrink them, if needed, anyway

Glad you had a safe trip this morning LB although that M6 sounds as bad as ever. Cant say Im looking forward to our next trip down it. Wow, what a lovely surprise  for your BIL getting the letter from ( somewhere in ) The Palace, a great memento to keep for the future.
The wind is getting up a bit here now. Have battened the hatches and secured some pots just in case it gets worse. I've  finished one of two baby blankets I have on the go at the moment, so need to clear the other knitting soon.

Afternoon all - and it's a wet and blustery one - no chance I'm going outside. Bin day today and I put my garden waste bin out on the off chance it might be emptied - and it was - result!
There are no official garden bin collections over the Christmas / New Year periods, but our lane is too small to have a normal size lorry so our garden waste has to go in the same small lorry as the 'landfill' waste. Except it doesn't go to landfill - it all gets incinerated to produce electricity, so still relatively green and I can put horrors like bindweed and ground elder in there with a clear conscience.

We cut all the hedges and coppiced the hazels the week before Christmas so (despite 2 trips to the tip) the brown bin was full to bursting with trimmings. Can start to refill it this weekend and will feel like I've got my money's worth for the extra charge if it's collected 26 weeks a year.

LB - a very Happy Birthday to your sister - December must have been a very expensive time for your parents!!! Will be interested on the feedback on the gin. OH's motor racing pal likes gin so it might be an appropriate gift for him if we need one🤔

It's been a lovely sunny day. I've pruned the 10 roses along the orchard fence and planted 2 roses by the gazebo. That took a bit of time as the ground was full of clay and big stones. It's all mixed up with compost. The roses I planted are Strawberry Hill and climbing Iceberg. I have 2 more to plant on the gazebo, Open Arms and Chevy Chase. The garden is still pretty wet. The grass needs mowing but it's too wet.
