@rowlandscastle444, what a lovely thing to do for your new neighbours and a great way to introduce yourselves. Glad to hear it all went well. When we moved here, ( little cul-de-sac) all the neighbours left a card through the door welcoming us to the close and most of them knocked on the door, bearing gifts and introducing themselves. We were quite over whelmed as, although we had lived at our previous home for 26 years, this had never happened and it was a road where everyone kept themselves very much to themselves. We were " incomers" π²π¬π
OH and I took the broken clock to the PO this morning, they just scanned the QR code and that was it. A few hours later we received an e mail saying a refund had been made. All done via that famous river site, we were very impressed at the ease of returning the item and the speed of the refund. Now,we will have to start a hunt for another clock( just a carriage style and size clock) from some shops further away from him. None of our local shops sell clocks anymore.Β
It has started raining this afternoon LB so we haven't missed the boatπ
It has been a very horrible day today but at least I am not waiting to travel through the Chunnel. I am signing out for today. I think there will be a lot of reading done as there is nothing worth watching on TV tonight - well for me anyway. Enjoy your evenings all and I'll see you in the morning.

Goodnight LB. I agree, Saturday night viewing isn't very inspiring. I'll take up the knitting needles and and have a quiet evening too. Have a nice evening folks. Signing out for now.Β
What night!! We can't be the only part of the country to be experiencing strong winds. It sounds, and sometimes feels, as though the house is about to take off.Β
Good morning @rowlandscastle444. I have to say it is not TOO windy here but I could see raindrops gleaming on my Choisya outside my kitchen window. Hey ho, another grey day in progress.

I remember in the 'olden days' when I used to record programmes onto video tape to watch when I wished. How many times did I have video tapes hanging around which I didn't have time to watch and eventually taped over? I lost count. Did I miss those programmes? No! I find I carry out the same procedure with the modern day VM box. This too will eventually become obsolete I reckon.

I had to throw away a load of VHS tapes when I moved house. We had loads of them as we would buy films and record stuff on TV when in the UK to bring back to France. Then satellite dishes changed everything. Now I can watch UK TV and record on a Humax box.
I'm not doing anything for New Year and I don't want to. I need a break from big meals and wine.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning Busy. I will not be doing anything special for NYE either. As I've mentioned before I doubt I would be able to stay awake and I certainly wouldn't want to be going out in the horrid weather just to watch some fireworks.

I'll be watching TV but programmes that I've recorded. No iPlayer here.
I had a lovely lunch and a good chat. There were 7 of us, one couple I'd met before because they came to my old garden when I opened it and they are in the gardening club here. We had smoked trout with a salmon patΓ©, then a delicious pheasant casserole with a dish of fresh ceps picked in my friends' woods, then cheese, then tarte tatin. I still feel very full.
Stay safe everyone.Β
Not windy in SW France, looks a bit wet though.
