I am indoors in my t shirt and itβs pretty warm. I would be very uncomfortable rushing around all day in a jumper. I only just started wearing tights occasionally because I do hate to be hot!Β
@Ladybird4 I have had time to read back and heard the sad news about Lily. Heartbreaking for you. I am so sorry. Sending hugs.Β
Hello all later arrivals. I'm waiting for RM to pick up a parcel from me. I only found out about this facility last Christmas. The collection is free at the moment but I expect we may have to pay for it soon.
Good to hear you are slowly mending Ruby. Just take care of yourself until all the bruising is gone.
Biglad - π₯Ά
Hazel, I love that Lily will be immortalised on here and please, please keep calling the washing machines Lily's TV.Β
I, like you, am only getting spasmodic postal deliveries - many days none at all then a shed full the next delivery. Just taken in a parcel from DPD for my neighbours.
How about Spikey 128 for your cactus?
Thank you for your kind words Debs. π
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Itβs a very grey, dismal sort of day here, but so far still dry.
We enjoyed ourselves at the Panto yesterday. (Oh yes we did π). There was a school party in (aged about 8, so year 3 probably), and they made it, really - their full involvement was a pleasure (and very funny) to listen to. I imagine the cast love it when they have an audience that gives it their all. It is a very small theatre, so was full.
Take care everyone recovering from falls or illness.
We've just got back from our hunt for Spikey 128( good name LB, thanksπ I'll call him that) and found he was still available in the shop. But it was absolutely heaving with cars and people, traffic queues a mile long and much beeping of car horns. Popped in at Te**o's on way home, that was busy too but we've made it home just as it's coming in ominously dark. Got home , lights on , it's so dark inside.( with it being a bright morning and dry, I heard a neighbour cutting his lawn!).Β We will continue with the tradition of Lily's Β TV LB, it will be in honour of the wonderful little companion. ππ» Red Maple, glad you enjoyed the panto, the kiddies do make something like that don't they? Bit like christmas. Just @star gaze lily ,SGL, to go now.
Evening all. Been very busy this last few days with visits to Yorkshire and doing lots of gardening as well as other more seasonal tasks.
I've only just been able to read back over the last few days of postings and was so very saddened to read LB's news about Lily. She really was our little furry mascot on Rezzers and I always think of her when I do the laundry. Deepest sympathies LB.
And what's this about Rubee falling down the stairs? Should I crack the old one about taking more water with it?π Perhaps not - hope you're ok Rubee.
Big Lad - that planting hole looks a lot like what I've had to plant into in this garden - just different colours. Mine is thick layers of yellow and grey clay with the odd layer of red sandy subsoil. What with that and the foundations / rubble from a bungalow that once stood in the garden, plus rubbish from the midden before the days of rural refuse collection plus huge local flints - it's amazing that anything grows at all!
There is still a concrete lintel which I gave up trying to dig out once I'd exposed about four foot of it and realised it was angled down and disappearing ever deeper under the lawn. God knows how long it actually is. Similar with a roll of roofing felt I found about a foot down when planting a tree - that disappears under some concreted-in hard landscaping....
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I'm glad you enjoyed the panto @Red maple. I think it's great when there are lots of excited children.
The gate had defrosted in the sun by the time I was ready to go out. I have a funny little rubber key that I can open it with manually. There is also a door in the wall to the front garden, but that's no good for the car.
Hazel, you were very brave to tackle the Christmas shoppers and all the nightmare that entails. It has been a very dark day altogether but we are creeping ever closer to the Winter Solstice (there's the Latin derivation) on 22nd December and then we can look forward to the day light lengthening.
Thank you T'Bird. I am still numb. Its always the same when you have to make the hardest decision ever when you own a pet.
@Red maple, as Busy and Hazel have already said, having an audience full of excited and enthusiastic small people creates the perfect ambience for a successful pantomime. Their joy is so infectious.
Busy, I was glad to read you weren't frozen in for the day and how lucky to get just the items your granddaughter wished for.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I am not quizzing in Bolton tonight so I wll be able to soak myself in Mastermind, O.C. and the Special Edition Christmas Uni Chall. Really looking forward to that and wondering who the contestants will be. I still have to giggle thinking about the Young Ones version and how long ago was that one??
Signing out for this evening. See you all tomorrow. I have a dental appointment at 09:00 - deep joy!

I went to the SM then I did some Christmas shopping for the family. I thought I would have to go to PΓ©rigueux, 40 mins drive away to get 6 yr old granddaughter her present, but I saw a farm shop that sells animal food on the way and they had what she wanted. She wants a headcollar and lead rope that she can use at the riding school for her favourite pony!
