That coastal village is beautiful @Ante1. Thank you for the photos.
No December birthdays for me since 1st OH died. My biggest birthday flushes are in spring and autumn.
I'm going to get my car tyres changed from summer to winter ones this morning. I have the winter ones in the barn. We will be driving to the UK in January so I want to be prepared.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning all. Working extra hours today and I am on the counter. Going to be a fun day! Never mind I have my Christmas t shirt and the buffet starts today. It will do me good to focus on other things as having a few family problems, my sister and niece are at the eating disorder clinic today and we are all hoping they wonβt admit my niece to hospital but itβs not looking good.Β
Enjoy your day everyone and please be kind to anyone working in retail or hospitality itβs not much fun at this time of yearΒ
Ante - hee hee - yours is the better phrase by farπ Winter wheat looks good.
LB - I'm just about to go to the SM too. Trying to time it for before the mid morning rush and after the office workers rush hour. When this little one arrives my birthday tally for December will be 9. Today is my nephew b'day and tomorrow it's my favourite cousin and OH's. There should be a 'No Nookie in March' law in my family!!!
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Morning all. Not much planned for today apart from waiting in for two parcels.Wind has dropped and its fresh outside. Debs, Im sorry to hear about Β your niece. That is such a worry. I hope they don't keep her in over Christmas. Ante, goodness, that wheat has grown! Looking lovely.
I submitted my weekly work for checking first thing and then snuck into town - dentist (another tooth snapped yesterday!), bank and PO.
WARNING - FEEL FREE TO SKIP THE NEXT PARAGRAPH - BORING WORK RANT!!!
Because of the festivities, we have to get everything done even earlier and then start on the first week in January's work. That'll be this Friday (to compensate for everybody being off and the bank holiday). Whilst 100s of the crew got a memo confirmimg that they are off from today until 20th Jan, our small dept gets to do 10 days work in 9 days to ensure that everyone else continues getting paid whilst they're off! I've had my initial moan but suspect that I will have to have another go to get us properly compensated for either working on the bank holiday or adding that day's work to the rest of the week. Considering our 'standard' working day is 11 hours, we either work bank holiday Monday for nothing or work 14hr days for the 4-day week. Right back to it - that's an hour that I'll add on tonight.
Afternoon all. Got Jack's shopping done. Very saddened to hear of the family difficulties Debs. It must be such a worry for you all. I hope that things get easier.Β
It is my sister's birthday on 27th and she is partial to the odd G&T. I just could not resist getting her this - I know she will fall on the floor laughing!
@Biglad, when I am advised 'not' to do something I immediately have to do it! Read your rant. I feel your frustration.
Hey Ante, I meant to ask yesterday, you have hinted at a grand plan???
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I don't miss going out to work at all @Biglad. My main jobs were in public services (DSS and Social Services). Trying to assess, award and despatch benefit giro payments (in the days when humans rather than computers did it all and long before BACS transfers) before and over the holiday period was a nightmare. We literally squeezed two to three week's work into one week. Of course, it was always our fault if the post office failed to deliver somebody's giro before Christmas - even if it was sent in good time.
And as for trying to organise personal care at home for elderly clients over the Christmas period.... (deep shudders).
As you say - very stressful, lots of extra work and for no extra reward - don't miss it one little bit!

Where on earth did you find that LB? π Never seen it before. Had a ready mixed G&T out of a tin before - but never just the G. I'll give it a go though if you need a guinea pig.....π

T'Bird, I got it in 'sco when I was shopping this morning. I have NEVER seen anything like that before but it is so quirky it grabbed my attention and my sister has a similar sense of the ridiculous to me. I might even go back and get myself one.
