Hope @star gaze lily enjoys the Panto todayπππ We nearly got blown away in the SM car park- the trolley went one way in a gust of wind almost dragging OH away with itπ¬ Just waiting for a delivery now.Β
Like so many of you, the howling wind disturbed my sleep through the night too. I think it might be an early night to recover. There were just a few casualties - a couple of plants blown over and one of the bins blown down the side of the house. All have been righted now. I must admit, this surprised me, I was expecting worse.
The weather has turned even more inclement, with rain added to the blustery wind. My OH had planned to go to the SM whilst I was doing Pilates, but it can wait until tomorrow when itβs supposed to be slightly better. Whatever, we will have to go out tomorrow, as thereβs a few things to be done.
Ive made the apricot stuffing (courtesy of Mary Berry) and once itβs cool, Iβll pop it in the freezer until Sunday, so thatβs another job off my list.
I need to wield the hot metal thing after lunch, then I think I might read my book.
Good afternoon all. Hair rescued. Plenty of hot gossip. Weather still dreadful but at least my bins have been emptied and are now all safely back in place. I drove all the way tp Bestie's behind a tractor and trailer transporting muck! This odiferous mountain rose a metre above the tailboard of the trailer and, a bit like Hansel and Gretel with their breadcrumb trail, the wind whipped off large clods of muck depositing them all along the roadway. Luckily I was not the first car in the queue behind it! I did have to play dodgems round the overturned bins en route.
The wind snapped my plastic wreath holder on the front door so I must try and get some metal ones. It is also rattling my letter box which is a bit annoying as I keep dashing to answer the door. Dashing??? Who am I kidding, brisk walking more like.
Sorry you missed your rose delivery Busy.
Red maple, I hope that your blown over plants recover.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Evening everyone. Thank you @Songbird-2 and @Red maple Very windy here too this morning, but was ok when we went out this afternoon to see Snow White. The poppets thoroughly enjoyed it, although they snuggled up when the wicked Queen first appeared. A lovely afternoon and they have already decided we're going to a Panto next year. ππΒ Happy birthday to Mr @Topbird ππ»πΎπ₯π
I've finished my Christmas shopping. I now have a Christmas tree after all. Put it on the decorations thread. While I was decorating it I put half a spaghetti squash to cook in the wood burning oven. Then I forgot it, bit of a burnt offering now.
This afternoon my garden was full of baying hunting hounds. I rang CB as he's a member of La Chasse and he came quite quickly but by then the hounds had gone into the wood. CB rang later to tell me that they were hunting wild boar and they'd shot a big one weighing 175kg. Sounds as though the Chasse has Christmas dinner sorted!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Busy, I'm glad Β you decided to get Β a Christmas tree up after all, it all helps to get Β into the spirit of things. What a sight to behold a garden full of houndsπ±π² Shame about the burnt offering thoughπ€ Hope you get Β the rose delivery soon.
Thankfully the wind has dropped now, no noticeable damage anywhere here or in surrounding area. SIL and OH came over this afternoon for the annual exchange of presents. We all had a good catch up. SIL eye and leg are healing nicely although still some pain in leg.
LB, good time to get your hair done, all sorted for Christmas. It will feel better too. But what a horribly slow journey you had, awful being stuck behind a tractor with no room to overtake.
Red Maple, OH will be making his special stuffing, as usual, on Christmas Eve. Its an old recipe from his late mother, its delicious. Your apricot one sounds lovely.
SGL, glad, you and the poppets enjoyed the Panto. 23 didn't like the Giant when he first saw him but soon got used to him. Its nice just having a snuggle up though, isn't it?
Got a video from son earlier with 23 showing us his first wobbly Β toothπ²π€
Goodnight all. Lets hope for a more peaceful night.
