Good morning everyone, hope you're all OK after yesterday's weather. Apart from a lot of rain at times we weren't affected here. The 50-60 mile an hour winds never happened here, can't say I'm sorry. Well we took advantage of the bad Weather to bite the bullet and upgrade our phones. Mine in particular was getting very creaky and sometimes needed charging twice a day, especially if I used it on here. But O heck what a tedious process, we've gone for the same make and type of phone, but getting everything to transfer across seemed to take for ever, and some of it is incomplete. So if I miss anything I apologise.
Just want to thank you all again for your kind wishes. As you can imagine I am feeling rather down, never mind having an awful cold. I have no idea when I will be well enough for surgery, and when I am well how long I will have to wait.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Hello all, rather wild and wet down here today. Had a GP appointment this morning about my continuing nosebleeds, young Dr very sympathetic suggested I see someone else with more experience than the one I have been seeing! I have to take my BP three times a day and chart it as it's high. I think many peeps must have cancelled their appointments this morning as I was the only one in the waiting room! OH is trying to sort out one of our new windows in our bedroom, unfortunately the chap who put them in has died, it is a slider window and the top seems to not fit at well as it should and the wind is whistling in it!
Yesterday's storm didn't seem to reach here, and most of the fun & games occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday in this neck of the woods. Flood waters in the district seem to be receding, and while several bridges are now closed due to becoming structurally unsound, none have fully collapsed. What was previously a 15 minute drive to the nearest town has now become a 45 minute drive. Of slightly more concern is that a formerly 45 minute drive to the nearest hospital Accident & Emergency Department has now become a 3 hour drive. The happier news is that I'm still not aware of any weather-related fatalities this week, and this little village has escaped more or less unscathed.
In the few short weeks I've been on here many good people have suffered very significant misfortunes. There are nice people on this forum who have been in cars which have terrifying filled up with water while they were still inside and had to spend unplanned nights away from home, others have been the victims of fraud and have had to deal with unpleasant ex-partners, others have to endure long covid, others are waiting for significant surgical procedures which have been stressfully delayed, others have had distressing times at the dentist, others have been driving behind vehicles carrying steel which fell off and narrowly avoided catastrophe, others still are trying to run small businesses in very challenging economic times. These are all thoroughly unpleasant things happening to good people.
There is an erstwhile boxer who goes by the name of Mike Tyson. He was once interviewed before a big boxing match and the interviewer told him that his opponent had watched footage of his previous boxing matches, identified Mr. Tyson's supposed weaknesses and had formulated a plan to capitalise on said weaknesses. In reply Mr. Tyson (who had a certain laconic wit) smiled and said "Everyone has a plan - until they get punched in the face". The universe has previously punched me in the face a fair few times, and - rest assured - will most certainly do so again on multiple occasions in the future. All I can say is that I hope I am able to deal with these events with the fortitude, resilience and good grace which you ladies and gentlemen hereabouts have recently shown. Wishing you all much better days to come.

What a lovely post @Badly_Maintained. Can't help feeling that it is better to have a plan than not though. (I've been watching far too much of the Covid Inquiry!).
Afternoon all, glad most of you seem to have escaped the worst of the storm. What a change from yesterday, we've got brilliant blue skies, sunshine and no wind. I've had a quick walk round the garden and it's all okay. Just got to put back stuff I moved prior to the storm.
Had a very enjoyable back and shoulder massage this morning, first one for about three months I think so well overdue. Took two big bags of clothes to the nearby charity shop but went back later to try on a rather nice coffee coloured blouse I had admired which fitted so I fell into temptation! Oh well, I had thrown out about a dozen or so tops.
Getting to the end of our week long holiday here, and it's been everything I could have dreamed of, Charlie and I very tightly bound, not a cross word or moment of stress. We've both enjoyed a relaxing massage this afternoon, building our defences for the return to ' normal ' life. Luckily, stressful ex - OH leaves for Morocco 3 hours after our return for a two week holiday, so we can continue our stress free life for a while longer.
Thank you for your kind comments @Badly_Maintained and good luck to everyone with challenges still to overcome.
Ever onwards, my mantra. 😁

it’ll happen … I know patience isn’t necessarily your strong suit, but you’ll have to work on it. 😊 😉

Prepare for the worst but always hope for the best. 🤞

Japan does look smashing @chicky.
How are the energy improvements going @Hostafan1. Are your lakes overflowing with all the rain. Hope the polytunnels are still standing!
I expect your colleagues will be able to re-arrange your op quite soon @Punkdoc and you should feel better in a week or so.
Glad you're enjoying your holiday with Charlie @D0rdogne_Damsel.
Hope you can get the nosebleeds sorted soon @floralies, not something you you want to keep getting.

Needed a bit of 🍷 to calm me down afterwards. 😅
