    Morning all.

Just checking in as off today.

@Allotment Boy -  As an Autumn colour fan, I am fascinated by the order in which my garden/local trees colour and drop leaves. We have big Ash trees on our road and they seem to shed all year as they drop ‘flowers’ in Spring, the ‘fruits’ in Summer and then leaves in Autumn!  I’ve noticed my large Acer is a bit behind on colour this year, but some of the potted ones have shed already. My big ornamental fig is usually one of the last to loose it’s leaves, but is nearly bare now.

Have a good day all 🍁

Congratulations @rowlandscastle444! But don't envy you the packing.

OH enjoyed the talk at our local theatre last night - as I knew he would!  It was about a fairly local character, the author and environmentalist, Roger Deakin, delivered by his biographer, Patrick Barkham (who writes on nature for the Guardian). He talked, most entertainingly, for 45 minutes without notes, but there were slides showing just what an interesting life Deakin led. The wreck of a farmhouse he bought in the 70s for £2,000 is now on the market for £1.5 million!  The theatre was packed - clearly a well respected character in these parts.

    Morning all,

I too, am having a quiet day today as yesterday was quite hectic and I am very tired.
Had a minor disaster the night before when OH broke the top of his new aftershave I'd given him for his birthday, the cap was too stiff to move but somehow it managed to go everywhere, on the carpet, on the kitchen floor, worktops etc. - stank the house out! Fortunately when I took the remains back to Boots, they replaced it straight away so they may have had problems with that particular design before.

We had a lovely evening with DIL who cooked us dinner and stayed overnight. She had a big presentation to do this morning so was still working on it late last night while we watched Shetland. She certainly earns her money!

Our cleaners arrived whilst I was still getting dressed - oops. We are doing a trial run of once a fortnight as I reckon I can mostly manage the housework now with OH's help.

Congrats @rowlandscastle444, what a relief for you. I would recommend that you let the removal company pack for you if affordable - it was worth every penny when we moved here, they were incredibly quick and nothing got broken.

Enjoy your weekend with Charlie @D0rdogne_Damsel.

    Love the irises @Pat E.

We've been to a meeting and bring and share lunch of the local gardeners' club in a community café nearby, mostly English members. 4 of them gave a power point talk about their gardens, before and after. They had all done huge amounts of work turning barren patches and fields into lovely gardens. I have already visited a couple of them. Bring and share lunches are always good with plenty of variety. We'll just have a snack tonight.

  • That sounds lovely @Busy-Lizzie, we do have that here in the summer with our local garden club, but sadly I'm always too busy in the summer to attend.

I'm desperately trying to get some tulips in but it just won't stop raining here.... getting very fed up with it.

I didn't bother with tulips this year @D0rdogne_Damsel, too much rain. I'll miss the garden club's Christmas party.

  • Morning all, too. Back from the hospital, and I have to return for more tests/ treatment on Tuesday 14th. Doctors did admit that I was a difficult (then changed to "complex") case.
Actually, they probably got it right first time around.
