@Lizzie27 I have used a product called Ace to remove tea stains from tray cloths, serviettes and tablecloths from when I ran a bed and breakfast and used all my mother's old pieces of linen.
How scary, @steephill, glad you are ok. Back home from our lovely weekend in Oxford. @Lizzie27, we had our afternoon tea in the Old Parsonage hotel, at the city end of the Banbury Road. Beautiful atmospheric room with a big fireplace and lots of paintings, we were sitting under a portrait of Colin Dexter! We didnt get stuck in any traffic jams, ( we took the upper and western ring roads, then down the A420 to join the M4 east of Swindon. There was horrendous rain all the way to Bristol, luckily everyone was driving very sensibly and keeping their distance and their speed down. The sky cleared by the time we reached Bristol, so we had a smooth journey home. Early night tonight, we are both exhausted.
Thanks for that tip @Loraine3, I'll have a quick look on Google and see if it's still available. Must confess I've never heard of it. Just used a Vanish spray followed by a soak in biological washing liquid but that hasn't worked.
Glad you got home safely @Ergates. I prefer the A420 route from Oxford to Swindon as I hate the A34 road but we usually leave the M4 at Hungerford and go across the downs to Wantage, then wend our way through the villages over to the Oxford area- much less stressful if a lot slower! We see lots of Red Kites around Wantage - they are stunning.
Oh my goodness @steephill, what a scary experience, and well done you for the quick thinking. When we drove back from Bordeaux last week through a storm my biggest fear was a fallen/falling tree, not a lot one can do.
Hello @Loraine3, I haven't 'met' you before. I hope your recommendation works for @Lizzie27. I have had 3 B&Bs, always loved welcoming people into my home, have stayed in touch with some guests too, nice way to earn a living.
@Ergates, Oxford is one of my very favourite places, I am an avid Inspector Morse fan, and have visited Oxford many times, even stayed at The Randolph once, heaven.
I'm very happy with my new replacement washing machine here too @Allotment Boy, a Hotpoint, I can understand your OHs enthusiasm for getting a load in, I'd been more than 3 weeks without a machine.
Found myself in a bit of a dilemma this week, a very good (male) friend who I go out with on a regular basis, has declared he'd like our friendship to be 'something more' than a platonic ..... I do really like him, but was shocked, he's 20 years older than me, (making him 80), he certainly doesn't look it I know, but I am not sure it's a good idea. I value his friendship very much, and he has got a cheeky twinkle in his eye, but where can this go.....he doesn't want to travel anymore, he is quite fragile health-wise and I just feel it could end in heartbreak very soon. I just don't know how to say that he's too old for me gently.....

@D0rdogne_Damsel, probably easiest if you imply your affections are given elsewhere at the moment and you're waiting/hoping to see how it pans out. You don't need to go into specifics.
Hi @D0rdogne_Damsel, my tuppence worth. You are probably in the prime of your life, your friend, with the best will in the world, is rather past his. Try to explain, that you are just not in the right place for a relationship.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
That happened to me once, @D0rdogne_Damsel, but we were both a bit younger then, I was in my 50s. I just told him gently that I liked him as a friend but I didn't want a relationship. He accepted it and eventually met a lovely lady who he married.
Well done @steephill for acting quickly. What a horrible shock.
It's been rather a drizzly day. We did the weekly shop and had a wander up the high street of the local town. I bought some Christmas cards in charity shop.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
How cute @Pat E. I've never seen one, I guess I would have to come to Australia and wouldn't that be nice! Mmm dream on 😂 @D0rdogne_Damsel: I'll second all that has been said so far. Just tell him straight: no.
