    That is lovely @Badly_Maintained … a special gift. 😊

We said goodbye to my Pa several times during his five years in The Lovely Home  … bless him he bounced back and confounded the medics each time before unexpectedly slipping quietly away a few days after his 95th birthday, holding the hand of his favourite carer. The skilled and loving care he received there was amazing.Ā

  • Good afternoon everyone,Ā  a brighter start and dryerĀ  though the grass was very wet.Ā  NotĀ  a lot to report here, much the same as usual,Ā  Capel Manor on Wed's,Ā  plots yesterday garden today such an exciting life šŸ˜†

We have said much the same as you about children in need, @Dovefromabove, I get very conflicted. We do give something most years but part of us both feel we shouldn't need to,Ā  in a country like ours these things should be provided.Ā

Charities providing extras is one thing … providing necessities for a reasonable life just has to be wrong in the UK in the 21st century.Ā

You know the wheelchairs that children use … … the self-propelled and powered ones that accommodate the child’s physical differences and that they can control themselves, so that the have a tiny smidgeon of independence … that surely is a necessity for a reasonable life for a young person isn’t it? Ā  Who do you think supplies each and every one of those? Ā Charities like Whizz Kids ….Ā https://www.whizz-kidz.org.uk/ … that’s who. And as the child grows and develops they have to be upgraded/replaced.Ā

I know so many parents who, despite all the other difficulties they have in their every day lives… )multiple hospital appointments etc, while trying to ensure that siblings don’t feel left out) Ā have done sponsored events to try to raise fund to get their child a wheelchair they can actually use.Ā

    Exactly so.
The latest we are getting is charitiesĀ  Ā asking for money for NHS staffĀ  facilities,Ā  we've had more than one recently. Appealing to people to give hard working NHS staff a decent rest room, not aĀ  fancy plasma TV or anythingĀ  Ā just refurbishingĀ  the basics.Ā Ā

I think I’ve read almost everything she’s written and own a copy of most of them ā¤ļøĀ

Evening all, dry and sunny today thank goodness, seems to be every other day which is odd.

We've had a quietish day, no update on my brother so presumably he's doing okay. Enjoyed a long telephone chat with my daughter this afternoon.

I've been able to get out in the garden, repotting a large heather temporarily pending the driveway project, still no date on that. Don't really mind if that is now delayed to the Spring. I've also planted my tulips in their pots which are carefully stashed in the greenhouse away from the squirrels.

Looking forward to a pub lunch with friends tomorrow but hoping the roads won't be flooded on the way over (they often are near the Avon) which we have to cross.

    Enjoy your weekend folks.

It’s been an alright day weather wise, not much rain and mostly sunny.Ā
I bought 3 large garden pots to plant the tulips in which I plan to do next week if the weather complies. Currently baking maple and cinnamon cookies and then I plan on going to the OHs for my birthday weekend.Ā

I hope everyone has a lovely and peaceful Friday, whatever you are doing!

Off to Bath in the morning, to spend the weekend watching grandsons playing rugby! Hope the trains are running ok , and that the playing fields aren’t flooded. - not a problem though, I’m looking forward to spending some time with the boys.
seems to have taken two full days to put my packing together, catch up on the laundry and leave OH some home baked goodies so he won’t miss me too much. He is always surprised what hard work I find packing when I’m only taking a small bag for a couple of nights away. He forgets how easy it is when we take the car, just chuck in anything we might need, spare shoes, extra coats etc. Just sorting out some crossword / codeword puzzles to entertain me on the train. Hope everyone sleeps ok tonight, me included!Ā
