  • Morning everyone,Ā  damp again here. Sorry to hear of more illness around hope to hear of improvements soon.Ā
IĀ  am a bit preoccupied with my health trial. Doing questionnaires, tests to do and blood glucose monitor is interesting but not unexpected yet. It's early days yet but it looks like my standard breakfast of muesli is giving me a sugar spike (this is not uncommon apparently), so I may have to try something different.Ā Ā
We going to the Albert Hall tonight to see Lang Lang in concert.Ā

  • Enjoy the concert @Allotment Boy … what’s the programme?

Poor @Dovefromabove. Hope it’s just one of those attacks that empties out whatever the problem was, with a rapid return to normal, albeit leaving you a bit fragile. I only resort to the Imodium if I really have to go out before it’s eased off (as happened a few weeks ago) Annoyingly, I always hope for a positive outcome of losing a few pounds, but that never seems to happen.
@Nanny Beach, you sound like the ideal study subject, no consolation to you, but sounds Ā will be contributing to improved knowledge of Covid and it’s long term complications. Do hope the docs will be able to find ways to improve your symptoms.

Out for breakfast, despite the clouds and the chill. First step to getting back into our usual routines after my giddy weekend away. I’m planning to have another go at the laurel hedge today. It’s looking very raggedy, but I think a session of cutting back the long stragglers will actually make a big difference without as much effort.Ā

    That’s my hope too @Ergates šŸ¤žĀ
I don’t like taking Imodium unless I have to … it just seems like putting off the inevitable šŸ™„Ā
Good luck with the hedge. 😊

Take care Dove, for someone as active as you are it can be difficult to rest. But please do.

@Busy-Lizzie There's a non-profit Luxembourg-British society founded in 1947 to maintain and develop bonds between the two countries. Every year they host a talk in memory of Sir Winston Churchill, the speaker usually from the UK, Margaret Thatcher was one.

She is indeed one of the "enemy of the people" I cringe just typing that. Anyway, the talk was half about her role as judge of the supreme court, feminism, and about the importance of the rule of law. It was interesting to hear that the judiciary is likely to change in future and she seems to be quite matter of fact about it.Ā

Another grey day here. I made Fidget pie and there's already a very pleasant waft from the kitchen.Ā

  • Afternoon all,

My best wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery to @Dovefromabove

I bring broadly good tidings.Ā  Work to repair the district's bridges, to make good the landslides, and to repair breached river banks is well under way; and predictions of this all taking a very long time seem (presently) to be unfounded.

My Father is continuing to recover.Ā  The hospital sending out a team of doctors and nurses three times a day to the nursing home appears to have turned the tide for him.Ā Ā

Of course I'm aware that he is almost certainly in the last few months of his time with us. As a result of this I am taking my Mother to see him much more often, and spending most of the day there each time.Ā  I'll try to check in here as much as possible, but might not be around as much as I ideally would like.

Happily (and surprisingly to me) there are still a few of my annuals with the odd flower here and there.Ā  If I get a chance I'll try to take a few photos of them for you good people.

I didn't specifically say this when I introduced myself, so I'll say it now:Ā  I'm male and in my fiftiesĀ  - although I don't expect sharing this will make much difference in the great scheme of things.

Hope this finds everyone safe and as well as possible.

We went to Norwich, mostly M&S. They actually had 2 pairs of Per Una slim flare jeans in my size, one in dark grey, the other in blue, bit long but I can put up the hems. They never have the short ones, only regular, despite what the website says. Web site said they had 6 pairs in regular and 2 in short.

We also bought a white pin tucked dress shirt for OH, last one in his size, to go with his dinner jacket for when we go to the Christmas opera dinner in December. His white shirt is in France.Ā

On the way home we did a small weekly shop at Waitrose. We rarely go to Waitrose, furthest away of the SMs.

    Hi all,Ā

@Badly_Maintained. Glad to hear your father's turned the corner, hope he has some good months left to him.

The medics are keeping my brother in hospital for another few days, still concerned about his breathing. He wants to go home of course.

Sounds a good shopping trip @Busy-Lizzie. I can never get trousers short enough for me either - even M & S Short are now too long! Best fit for jeans /leggings I've found are Cotton Traders, they do a 27" leg length but even those are variable.

We've not done much all day apart from our usual walk. Dry but dreary with low cloud. Read the papers, done more tidying up and some ironing. Tomorrow's going to be busier as I have go to the hospital to have my hearing aid checked over. I must say I am managing quite well without it!

    Have a good evening all.
