Long day today, early delivery, then Christmas cake and mince pie making, followed by a Curry Evening. Thursday is normally my 'day off' but I'd decided to do the ever popular Curry Evening to boost the takings a bit, always quieter in November. Didn't mind going in for a few hours in the evening, then a whole pile of Christmas orders came in and I thought I'd better get ahead.
Tomorrow is not much better, another delivery at 9am then I have to go off and deliver the Mince Pies I made today and then my VAT return has to be completed by 5pm.
Saturday and Sunday is our annual Christmas Craft Market, so again a full on weekend. So much for November being quiet. 😅
Charlie is home tomorrow evening too, although his dad is arguing about that. Charlie is with me Friday evening, then all day Saturday and Sunday at his dad's, returning to me Sunday evening because I'm so much closer to the train station for his early start on Monday. Because Charlie and I are away together next weekend to see a family friend, his dad is saying I shouldn't see him this weekend, I'm getting more access than him.... His trip to Morocco didn't last long enough. 🙄 Anyway, Charlie has said he wants to see me Friday evening and definitely to stay with me Sunday because of the train Monday morning, it means he can have an extra hour in bed. We just have to stick together and fight our corner. Not nice for Charlie to be forced to choose. His dad only thinks of his own needs, not those of anyone else's.
I have been quite busy but I am catching up with you lot a bit at a time. @D0rdogne_Damsel, I wish I could come and enjoy the lovely food you prepare! It must be a lovely restaurant where you work. It won't be long until Charlie turns 18 ... then it will be easier at least on the practical side of things. His dad will probably play the guilty cards until forever. Some people are like that.
I take that @Dovefromabove is better but sorry to read about @didyw 's cough, I hope you can go to your friend's concert.
OH getting a little nervous for tonight's performance, last rehearsal at lunchtime. It is likely that the group will dissolve as musicians are pulling out because of age etc ... but I hope OH will continue strumming the guitar, it is a comforting noise to me downstairs.
@Lizzie27 am I correct in thinking that your new driveway is going to be in bound resin? Of course I might be thinking nonsense.
Well, I have aquagym this morning, not that enthusiastic about it but I know it is good for my poor bones so I'd better get ready. Have a good day all of you.
Brrrr. Very cold wind at the moment. I think it is coming from your direction @floralies!! I have some parsnips that need some attention, so a curried parsnip soup for weather like this. If it wasn't for the wind ........
I hope you are feeling better @didyw I had my flu' vaccination yesterday and although I felt a little hot and prickly around 5pm yesterday, I don't seem to be suffering any ill effects - so far.
I was waiting for my boiler serviceman to arrive at 8.30 this morning - he phoned - yes, he is held up at a maternity hospital in town - best keep the mums and babies warm - so my physio has been cancelled for this afternoon, while I sit in wait!!
Charlie seems to have got it right @D0rdogne_Damsel Friday night with you. Saturday and Sunday with his Dad and back to you for a restful Sunday evening together. I expect he gets to sleep in on Saturday morning!! Ho hum.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ @D0rdogne_Damsel … courage mon amie 😉 Charlie is of an age to make these decisions for himself … and it’s not so much about choices in this case, rather about being practical and pragmatic … a necessary part of growing up (and his father has to grow up too) … Tell his dad what Charlie has decided and that’s that. No discussion, no apology. Don’t engage. He can’t argue if no one else is arguing with him. (I know you know all that … I’m just saying it as a bit of a back up 💪)
Hmm, sudden spots of rain out of a clear blue sky 😵
Hope @didyw hasn’t gone down with something … there are some lurgies about (my tummy thing was preceded by a thickly glandy throat and I’ve heard the same from others in the area).
And hope that @punkdoc is feeling much improved soon 🤞 @Hostafan1 Enjoy 🏖 🌞
second coffee has arrived …
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
OH has a heavy cold. He's been coughing and nose blowing a lot in the night. I'm taking Vitamin C and crossing my fingers. We have various social events coming up, the postponed fireworks are on Saturday evening and friends are coming to dinner on Tuesday.
I have to go into town today as my watch battery has died and I feel lost without my watch.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all, a very cold day here, @tui34 we have no wind but i see on the weather that you have the Tramontane! Another nose bleed this morning but the haemostatic plug did it's job. I have a RDV with another ENT clinic in January, hopefully to have electrocautery. I'm very envious of your warmth @Hostafan1, How many more days? I hope all with lurgies etc are feeling better today, my daughter said she has gone down with a heavy cold, the first in four years.
Very sunny first thing this morning, but the clouds are drifting in from the coast. OH is watching Formula 1 practice, thankfully with his earphones on, over a late breakfast and coffee. Pondering life in general at the moment. My trip to the grandsons has left me restless. It would be so much easier to be near enough to just pop over for an afternoon, or offer an invite for Sunday lunch. Two sport mad boys of different ages means that the weekends are very busy with fixtures in different directions so actually very little free time. Doesn’t help that OH feels out of his comfort zone when away from home, and I think being nearly an only child ( only sibling ten years older) means that he finds the rough and tumble of youngish kids hard to cope with. Im thinking that if I organise more trips away for myself, that he will eventually see extra benefits in a move nearer the family ie I can pop off to see the boys and still be home by bedtime! He does suffer from Fear Of Missing Out, decides reluctantly to accompany me, and then neither of us really enjoys things as much as we could. I’ll be working on this!
Hope the concert goes well for your OH tonight @coccinella.
What a dilemma @Ergates. Before my daughter and family moved here, when the girls were still toddlers, they lived in Spain and I remember the anguish of leaving them after every visit. But now they are teenagers and we hardly ever see them anyway even though they are just a couple of streets away. You'll have to plan for what is best for you and your OH in the long terms. Do you have other family where you live now?
I think much as I try to deny it, I now have a cough and cold. My OH's cough is louder than mine so I think I must reluctantly give up our tickets for tonight's concert as no-one enjoys hearing people coughing throughout concerts. And this one will be quite quiet and ethereal.

Sorry, moan over.
Enjoy the sunshine @Hostafan1. 😎
Hope you feel a bit better soon @punkdoc.
And @didyw fingers crossed your fine for the concert.
Right, bedtime, good night all/good morning @Pat E soon I suppose. Horrible to hear about this bush fires. Hope better news today.
