Evening all, you have all been chatty whilst we've been away. Too many to mention just hope that all those with lurgies recover soon. It's been a long round trip of nearly 130 miles so feeling knackered now. Lovely and sunny up in the Oxfordshire village where my mum and grandparents are buried but freezing by lunchtime, which we didn't expect. Quick payment of respects and flower arranging etc followed by a nice lunch at nearby pub then journey home. Low lying sun a right pain, right in our eyes due west nearly all the way - very tiring.
Where to live when you're older is always a dilemma. We're staying put at the moment as we find it easier to travel to son/grandchildren/dog where the kids can carry on with all their weekend activities rather than them coming here. and missing out. Daughter lives further away in Devon so we don't see her so often but she drives here more often than not. Whilst we can still drive that will be fine, the crunch will come when we can't. Interesting programme last night about older drivers - did anyone else see it? OH followed the link to the organisation who will arrange a 'test' run for oldies to check if you're still safe on the roads. We might well do that next year. IF OH dies before me, then I will probably move nearer to my son to save him a long tortuous journey here.
Feeling very low this evening, Charlie's dad has literally ' ambushed' him. He arranged to meet him in Limoges to buy running shoes after school, said I was meeting them there for dinner afterwards, before I was even invited and of course refused, it's just a trick to get me to spend time with him and I'm not falling for it. So cross and frustrated, to get to see Charlie I have to spend time with his dad ( in public which is even worse) or just not see Charlie who has been hoodwinked into believing it was all pre-arranged....
He's the most manipulative man I know, it's incredible what he comes up with. Of course by the time they've finished dinner, it's an hour's drive away there's no point Charlie coming to me, so of course he's taking him straight back to his house.
Sorry, not happy, don't mean to bore you all with this. And to make it worse I'd made a lovely fish pie for us and now have no appetite to eat it. 😥

Oh dear @D0rdogne_Damsel, that's just awful, I'm so sorry you have to put up with that kind of treatment from your ex. Not much that I can advise on but you do have my sympathy.
Oh @D0rdogne_Damsel ((HUGE HUGS)) … what a total idiot the man is … he’s made a rod for his own back … Charlie will never trust him again.
Tonight will be tough for you, but put the telly on, eat cake or whatever … pop the pie in the freezer. It’ll all settle down now that Charlie is seeing his dad in his true colours. His dad won’t be able to control him like that however manipulative he tries to be. Charlie will see through it. I know it’s frustrating now but keep calm and carry on … it will be fine … it really will 🤗 🤗 🤗 🤗 🤗 🤗

I cant believe that man @D0rdogne Damsel, the absolute cheek of it! I really take my hat off to you. After all these stressful months of your house purchase and move, let alone running such a successful business, you still have to deal with situations like this. Yes rise above it, he is simply not worth the bother or your concern. You have Charlie's love and respect and he is such a wonderful young man and a great credit to you. Onwards and upwards with no looking back.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ 3C dryish and overcast out there.
Hope you were able to lose yourself in your book @D0rdogne_Damsel … stupid man is treating his son like a football … trying to win possession by out-manoeuvring you in his game. Charlie will not like being treated like that.
I’ll be taking OH to work this morning and popping in to Wrose for rice and coconut milk … we’ve run out of both and I’m planning a chicken curry for tonight. I’ll probably use some leftover baby potatoes with chard from the garden to make sag aloo as well. Otherwise its more knitting today. I find it’s a good ‘unwinder’ 😉
We had a disturbed night as OH is still thick with cold and coughing a lot. He went to bed yesterday afternoon but he's determined to wrap up well and go to the village fireworks and bonfire, postponed from the 5th.
It's the monthly farmers' market in the village hall this morning. I'll go to that but he won't. The poultry lady has pheasants and the veg lady will be there.

Poor @D0rdogne_Damsel, I went to sleep last night thinking of you, and first thing on waking up. You’ve had some good advice on here, so hopefully you’ll rise above your ex’s little games, and as it didn’t work, he may not try it again. Hope the rest of your weekend goes smoothly. Commiserations to all suffering from nasty winter ailments. A day at home for us. Only 1C this morning, despite the sun, but we have been out every day this week. I can’t see the green bins getting filled by Tuesday. A real admission of defeat. I suppose I could go and sweep some leaves up. Not very enthusiastic though.

@D0rdogne_Damsel I can only echo what @Dovefromabove and @AnnaB have said. They've put it better than I could.
