We didn't go to the fireworks. OH didn't feel up to it. He went to bed at 9pm. I've been watching a programme called Delivering Babies with Emma Willis. I was going to do midwifery after my nurse training but I met First OH and had babies instead.

Morning all. Well, we survived the visit yesterday from Hubby’s sister, her husband and daughter. It worked very well. He was all for cooking something special for lunch, but I convinced him to try my suggestion. 😏. We had a large range of things and they helped themselves to what they fancied. Hubby cooked chicken drumsticks and boiled eggs the day before, then on the day we set out cans of salmon, hummus, olives, pickled things, etc. They really enjoyed helping themselves. 😜
It did rain as predicted but not until they were on their way back to Canberra. Hubby’s sister and brother in law live on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland so it was a treat for all. His niece is living in Canberra while stationed there with one of the services.
This morning, our next door neighbour arrived with a butchered lamb as a thank you for us providing ajistment to his animals. I feel a bit squeamish about it, but it’s no different from buying from the butcher, after all. 😒. At least we weren’t involved in killing it and cutting it up. Poor little thing. 🥲
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ A Pick & Mix lunch @Pat E … perfect … and what a stunning photo of the weather … that one’s worth framing! Glad you enjoyed having visitors. 😊
A chilly night here 1C … I pulled the blanket over the duvet in the early hours and was toasty warm after that.
Son was out with friends for the afternoon and evening … we were in bed by the time he came home (only about 10 but we ‘retire early these days) and he was very quiet. We heard him park the car and come in and after that all was silent… OH says there’s the wrappings of a takeaway in the bin bin. 😊
Today I shall be mainly roasting pork and making apple sauce … and sewing up the latest matinee jacket.

Since I woke up on Thursday morning I have been suffering from an annoying attack of vertigo. Much better this morning but still being very careful not to get up/turn too quickly. Very aware of not falling over and hitting my head on something hard - mind you the little grey cells could do with a bit of a shake up. What causes these attacks to seemingly come from nowhere? I have only suffered the odd one or two over my life so it really caught me by surprise.
Morning all, cold and grey day, the cold from last night is lingering now because of low cloud. @AnnaB , sorry to hear about your issue, I have had a couple of bouts of this in the last year. Look on line at the Epley manoeuvre, there are several similar, essentially you sit on your bed and turn your head then lie down quickly to the side. It depends on the cause but there can be little crystals in the ear that get lodged in the wrong place and cause the balance issue .
@D0rdogne_Damsel - you mentioned how this forum is important to you and that got me thinking how true that must be for many of us on here…
I am quite a private person so my posts are often are fairly mundane and yet checking the forum, particularly this thread, is a part of my daily life. Many of you share snapshots of your lives - the good, the bad and the ugly, and I see the ups and downs play out like in any other social, work or family network. It is a pleasure and privilege to be part of this group. Well I must be in a reflective mood today - which is good as my making time for mindfulness has slipped recently.
Have a good rest of the weekend folks. I hope any ailments or worries improve.
This really is a remarkable forum … although we keep in touch I’m some distance from and rarely see the friends who supported me in my ‘previous life’ before leaving ex and moving here … OH and my small family are marvellous supports … but there are people here who have become ‘real friends’ too … at least two of whom I’ve never met and may never meet … but they and many others of you have supported me through what have been truly the grimmest of times … you are a special lot ❤️

You have beautifully encapsulated exactly how I feel, @Dovefromabove. My life changed massively about the time I joined this forum, and it is forum friends who I now rely on to provide support, thank you all.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
How lovely to read these posts. It certainly feels to me that I have an extra group of friends to ‘talk’ to, and not actually knowing any of you in person somehow makes it more comfortable. I really enjoy reading about your day to day lives, so similar and so different from my own. The forum is probably the first place I look each day. I really miss catching up on what the regular posters are up to, and the plant threads are a soothing alternative to looking at the horrors of the on line newspapers. It seems as if I’m not alone in this.
