That’s a relief Dove. There are 10 homes lost to fires and some firefighters injured (so far).   Sounds pretty grim.

Morning all, cold and grey here, we can't see the mountains for low cloud at the moment, I'm sure there will be plenty of snow when it lifts.
We have been painting walls for the last couple of days, it seems never ending. I have a potted begonia I must put in the GH before the minus temps arrive, everything else will be left to their own devices!

Dove, have you had a look in your computer about Perth WA weather?  It’s not good. Bushfires , wind and heat over there. 😳 people have been evacuated from their homes etc. I don’t know what part of Perth your neighbours are visiting.
Oh dear, a good friend who lives in France has just gone to Perth to visit her 2 daughters and grandchildren in Perth.

@Waterbut our lunch was only £8, to cover the cost of the food and sherry. It was in a friend's house. They have a huge dining room.

Nothing on today. I'll order my roses for my French garden and hem my new jeans. The Belgian rose nursery say they'll organise delivery for when I get back to France.

Meant to say to @Waterbut, welcome to the Hello Forkers thread. I hope your leg cramps are better and you managed to sleep.

Morning all, it's dry, cloudy and quite windy this morning but warmer than yesterday.
The cleaners have arrived so I'm marooned in my recliner whilst they hoover around me.
DIL arrived bearing a warm just cooked chicken with you - yummy. We had baby potatoes and salad with it followed by fresh fruit and yoghurt - very healthy. Nice to catch up with all the family news and the grandchildren's doings. The grandson is half way through his mock GCSE's, so far they're going well but it's very intensive. In school at 7.45 am for revision, followed by two exams back to back until 4.30 pm. The school is very academic and tough with it. Another week to go. He's got a provisional place at the 6th form college he wants to go to which is good news.

We watched Portillo's Andulacia programme the other night, he said it reaches over 40c in the height of summer - crikey! I wouldn't like to live there but the city looked fascinating.

Hope the weather in Perth improves @Pat E and that the bush fires die down.

Must raise a glass to my Mum tonight - she was born 100 years ago today - incredible!

    Have a good day folks.

Enjoyed Portillo's programme too, he was right when he said it takes more than a fleeting 2 hour visit to see the place. When we visited Cordoba for a couple of days in 2019 it was 42C. The interior of the Mezquita was quite a bit cooler so that was a good excuse to visit. The patios we saw were all gorgeous, a real mix of traditional and modern design. Well worth a visit.

Not going to be 42C around here any time soon though, I have just fitted the winter tyres to the car. Takes an F1 team about 2 seconds to change 4 wheels, takes me 2 hours!

    Beautiful photos @steephill.

Good job done on the tyres!

Enjoyed the rest of my day. Cleaners did a sterling job, including scrubbing off the mould at the top of the en-suite window which I couldn't reach. It was a sad mistake having such a small room fully tiled. I shall know next time!

Turned out beautifully sunny so did some leaf clearing, greenhouse & porch tidying and painted a small wooden Ikea box in which I'm going to keep all the gardening gloves, labels, bits of string etc out in the porch instead of on the kitchen worktop.

Just heard that the driveway should be started on Monday, fingers crossed. I'll believe that when I see the digger arrive.

Just quickly - dinner is being served.  It's all been a bit full on this week - lots of zoom meetings.  A 2-hour one today after a half hour one this morning.  I've dipped into other threads but have been awol from Forkers.  Quickly read back.  A mixed bag - some doing better than others!

I'm watching a dry tickly cough and a bit of a thick head at the moment.  Hope it disappears as we have tickets for a concert given by a friend tomorrow evening.

Ok - 'come and get it' has been called...
