Blustery and sunny today. I have been busy filling the trailer with cuttings and weeds as a friend wants to borrow it this afternoon and said he would empty it for me.
Sounds like a lovely concert "Allotment Boy"
I looked up Fidget Pie @coccinella - sounds really delicious. I'm interested in ideas for my visitors over Christmas other than on Christmas Day. Could be a hit!!
@AnnaB I'm sorry to hear you're not having a good day. I hope you find something that will cheer you up - a TV programme , a podcast ....
Nice to read about the "rest of you" @Badly_Maintained Enchanté!! Good to hear about your Dad.
So apart from physio sessions, dance classes and gardening not much to report really.
Indeed, @Dovefromabove today is for the Cecilias on this site. Glad to hear that you are feeling better....nothing worse than the innards playing up!!
I have had a cough and a gruff throat but not sore - been going on for 10 days. No headache, no fever nothing! Went to GP who thought it could be due to the blood pressure tablets I have started. Changed the medication. Hope it improves.
Pour Sainte Cécile, chaque fève en fait mille. Planté à la Saint Cécile, chaque pois va en donner mille.
I was just thinking this morning about sowing some peas and broad beans - the ground is so dry to dig - I'll need to drench it first.
Mixed reports from all the Forkers so hugs and cuppas to all who could do with one.
Against my Grinch tendencies, I’ve been out buying a few treats for the work team will do a hamper choccies, and snacks for the (don’t say it…) ‘holidays’.
Afternoon all, Had an early appointment at the ENT dept at local hospital. Felt very embarrassed because late last night I suddenly decided to test my hearing aid again - which worked after all! Oops. Too late to cancel appointment so went anyway and the chap looked at it, gave me spare plastic bits and told me to arrange another assessment as it was six years since last one. I've got to do that via my GP - what a bother. This is what is wrong with the NHS, far too much bureaucracy. I'm in the hospital, in the right department and the chap just couldn't walk me across to the Appointments desk and book me in. Madness. Rant over.
@Dovefromabove, glad you're feeling better, hope you enjoy the choir practice.
Sounds a good concert @Allotment Boy, my OH would have enjoyed it.
Done a quick tidy up and cleaned bathrooms as DIL is staying tonight. Hauled out all my evening dresses for her to look at and possibly try on, although she's tall and slender, the opposite to me. I was keeping them for my granddaughter but she's going to take after her mother so that idea's bit the dust. Shame. More charity shop stuff.
The house is now clean enough for the cleaners tomorrow!
We've just come back from a lunch party. It was organised by a ladies' group near here. I'm not in it but 2 of the ladies are friends of mine so we were invited. Usually it's just ladies but before Christmas husbands are invited too so OH came but he was in a minority.
How many evening dresses do you have @Lizzie27? I have one but it's in France. I've ordered one online for England but it hasn't come yet. I hope it fits. I have a tall slender daughter too and one petite one too. I'm 5ft3.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Sorry to hear that @punkdoc. The papers were reporting that chest infections were lasting longer than usual this time around but they're not quite sure why.
I did have seven @Busy-Lizzie but have just lent/given one to a friend. A couple of them are really old (27 years) and as we went to quite a few formal do's with the same group of friends, I just kind of accumulated more! I used to love getting dressed up. Most of them are too long for me now as I used to wear them with high heeled sandals but can't any more - I'm well under 5ft now. I'm keeping my two favourites though just in case, a fuchsia pink beaded one and a purple one with a jewelled neckline.
Dove, have you had a look in your computer about Perth WA weather? It’s not good. Bushfires , wind and heat over there. 😳 people have been evacuated from their homes etc. I don’t know what part of Perth your neighbours are visiting.
Sitting downstairs due to leg cramps so I am reading these interesting articles. I hope you enjoyed your lunch B-L. My wife returned from a similar lunch yesterday fuming. The bill arrived and and it split nicely into £18.00 a head which almost all agreed to pay. One woman went on and on arguing in a very loud voice that her bill was only £17.00 and demanded someone give her £1.00. My wife almost threw the coin at her. Just finished a course of steroids which cured my chest infection. Appears a lot of people living in the South Coast area are suffering from it. Now it is back to bed for some sleep I hope.
Good morning all ☕️ @Pat E I spoke to neighbour yesterday … he said that the weather where they’re going should be a bit cooler in a few days … they don’t leave here until 29th Nov so hopefully things will have improved by then 🤞
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Brrr. A chilly 5°C this morning with a nippy wind. Winter chills just around the corner!! Still it is sunny and bright which keeps the old morale high.
Filled the trailer up yesterday finishing up with my magnificent lavender bush that finally gave up after 2 very very hot summers - maybe it's time was up. I bought it at Lidl for 1€79 about 6/7 years ago.
Here it is this April starting to go on the left hand side.
Today being the 23rd is St. Clément.

Unfortunately, my chest infection won't leave me, so have spent most of the day in bed. Looking out the window I don't seem to have missed much.
