I hope your neighbours like heat, Dove. They’ve been getting lots lately over there.

  • They’re not that keen actually @Pat E … they’re used to wet and windy sailing on the Norfolk Broads and North Sea … he was a captain on one of the safety boats that stay around the North Sea drilling rigs. Very different to the Perth climate.

    Hi all
Grey and damp here, am not enjoying the weather this Autumn, at least plenty of books are getting read.

That’s a large part of what Autumn is for @punkdoc … if we don’t spend our holidays reading on a lounger, whenever would we find the time to read? 😉

Sunny with scattered cloud in Somerset, some evidence of flooding but beautiful views from the train home. Rather funny watching the preparations for the school run this morning. Despite their mum’s best efforts at having everything ready for departure, there were still last minute panics with mislaid blazers and the wrong games kit. Been there, done that, so it was a relief to be on the sidelines.
School drop off was as chaotic as I remember, but the boys seemed to have all their belongings when they got out, and I was deposited at the station in good time for my train. Will be strange to be back home again. Only a week till the next green bin collection, so I’ll have to get busy.

Life on hold while we wait for Covid to dissipate, the prisoner in the tower (OH) is getting bored and grumpy but also hungry which is a good sign.
Been making my not-quite-quince jelly (Chaenomeles cathayensis) for the last few days and I could be at it for another week if I wanted. Never had more than a dozen fruits before but have had about 100 this year. They are the size of a large apple and as hard as crickets balls. Only 8 jars left to fill out of 40 I bought for this year's batch so one more small batch to do. Guess what everyone is getting for Xmas? :D

Afternoon all, bright and sunshiny today after rain overnight so again no gardening. I had rather a sleepless night, how can I have hot flushes at my age -, it's not fair.
Also had a very unpleasant nightmare where I was being forced to have sex with Putin. He tried to buy me with the offer of a horrible nylon nightie but I was holding out for a silk one! Goodness knows what that was all about. I think the tossing and turning helped trigger another bout of vertigo so have felt rubbish all day. OH has just helped manipulate my head over the edge of the bed, uncomfortable but I hope it's worked.

I did try doing several small repairs using some silicone glue @Fire recommended but think it's now out of date as it didn't work on the aluminium lemon squeezer I broke.
Shame as it was the famous Alessi one - think War of the Worlds shape. Useless bit of kitchen kit given to us as a wedding present.

@steephill, as your OH tested negative yet? I believe the actual covid infection doesn't last very long unless you're very ill with it. Good luck with the quince jam making.

My brother has now been allowed out of bed to walk to the loo, he's a bit shaky but off the oxygen drip so slowly getting better.

@Ergates, I agree, the views from the train down to Exeter are stunning.

What an awful dream @Lizzie27! Wonder what brought that on? I sometimes still have hot flushes.

I did some gardening this morning and HW. This afternoon I did the ironing in front of Bake Off.

Tomorrow we are going to Norwich. We'll probably miss OH's blue card for parking.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Just popping in as I’ve been lying low today … started off with tender tonsils and the shivers and it’s now progressed(?) to explosive innards 😳.

I’m ensconced on the sofa under the big Welsh blanket and the men are looking after themselves. I’d steer clear of here for a few days if I were you … 🥺
