Glad for all those who are recovering, and their relatives are doing ok. Hard not to worry.
Well, the nearest I got to the hedge was looking at it as we drove past on the way home. After breakfast, I went to cuddle my favourite donkeys, then we headed down to the seaside for a walk. The town was looking very festive, lots of pretty window displays, and a Christmas tree in the square. We had coffee and hot chocolate , and shared a Black Forest roulade, before heading home. I’m still behind on my sleep, so we had an afternoon nap, by which time it was too late and getting too dark for gardening. It’ll have to wait.Ā
Just eaten a vegetable tikka masala for dinner with pilau rice deliciously fragranced with cardamom. I shall spend a while reading, and finishing a glass of wine, Ā before an early night! Is this what retirement would be like if we didn’t have a partially renovated house and an out of control garden?

If retirement were like that all the time @Ergates you might get bored!

  • Evening all,

Sounds like a lot of you have had a lovely day, nice when that happens, the renovating and taming of the garden can always wait until another day @Ergates. 😁

I love M&S @Busy-Lizzie and don't often get the chance to go. Last couple of times I've ended up in the Banbury store, lovely selections and great choice, but both times disappointed to find they had very few things in stock in my size. Very frustrating when I don't get chance to order and collect later, I'm usually o my there one day whilst waiting for the flight back to France after a holiday elsewhere.Ā

    Hope @Dovefromabove is feeling a little better.Ā

@Nanny Beach despite being ill hopefully a proper diagnosis means progress towards getting better can be made. Good luck.Ā

Thanks for the extra details @Badly_Maintained, I was quite pleased that I'd actually guessed you just about right. I know it shouldn't make any difference but I do like to know whether I'm chatting with male or female posters, not so bothered about age. I do find people's 'back story ' very interesting. It's like getting to know a person and then the friendship develops from there, virtual or otherwise.Ā

I wasn't really feeling too clever in my mood this morning so decided to skip work and get some early Christmas shopping done. It all gets a bit hectic for me after next week so good to feel I've got a bit ahead.Ā

I took myself out for lunch too but was a little disappointed that despite my best efforts I couldn't attract any of the servers attention to get some mayonnaise, I finally spotted some sachets on a dumb waiter and helped myself only to be frustrated by not being able to open it. Such a little thing, but spoiled what was quite a nice meal, just needed a bit of mayonnaise on the chips. At CdeG we serve proper mayonnaise in a little dish with a teaspoon and ketchup and brown sauce for that matter, I detest these disposable sachets. Grump over. Sorry. šŸ˜…
    Ā
Have now got mincemeat and Christmas cake fruit soaking ready for a baking day tomorrow.Ā

Am being frustrated by a bad signal on the TV also so intend to spend the rest of the evening on the sofa with a book.Ā

    Have a good evening all.Ā

Hugs and best wishes to @Nanny Beach, those 'symptoms' you described at the end of your post were mine to a T. I hope it doesn't last too long for you but if you get any tips on how to help please pass them on.
My best wishes to everyone suffering/recovering from the general ups and downs of health and life, and to any of their families or friends suffering the same.
Sorry not having a very good day today.
  • Hugs @AnniD, I have a lot of days like that. I feel for you.Ā

Morning all. We are still spending our time trying to work out what the weather is doing. Such a waste of effort, but we don’t seem able to ignore it. šŸ˜

    Good morning all 😊 ā˜•ļøĀ
definitely feeling improved this morning … a headache, but that’s probably dehydration… I’m having a glass of water … hopefully I’ll be ok for choir this afternoon …
I don’t want to miss it as we’re learning new pieces and my sight reading isn’t what it was (although it is coming back).Ā

There were raised voices outside as I went to bed last night … very unusual (indeed unheard of wink) in this quiet cul de sac … it transpired that someone was in a hurry and felt that NDN was impeding him as he reversed into his driveway. Very calmly NDN had left his car across the road and got out to explain to the angry chap exactly what he was doing, which of course infuriated him even moreĀ Ā maybe he’ll be a little more patient in future … 🤨

Glad you enjoyed the concert @Allotment Boy … too much travelling for us to get to London concerts, but we get some good stuff here in Norwich . Ā  Especially during the N&N Festival … it was great when I worked for the festival … a free seat for every performance, just for showing folk to their seats šŸ˜ŽĀ

St Cecilia’s Day today and very appropriately Benjamin Britten’s birthday … I met him and Peter Pears once a very long time ago … just queuing together in a shop and they asked for directions to a game merchants … I don’t think they knew I recognised them … I would’ve loved to ā€˜thank them for the music’ etc but it didn’t feel right … but I wish I had … Britten’s music is a big favourite of mine … Peter Grimes on Aldeburgh beach was an experience of a lifetime!Ā
