Thank you @didyw. We've been tidying up today in preparation for leaving.
I've also been able to get out into the garden at last. After what seems like weeks of constant rain, often heavy, flooding rivers and strong winds we have just had a day of sunshine. I was able to plant the rest of my violas in the borders, do a bit of weeding and shorten the shrub roses to protect them from wind rock.

Enjoyed reading back on all your news, so nice to see these snapshots of other people's lives, makes one feel part of the human race, even with the ups and downs.
I'm not sure if I've mentioned this in here before or not, but the husband of one of my members of staff decided in July that he was actually meant to be a woman. He's been married for 20 years, has 3 kids, but now he's decided he couldn't carry on the charade. Heartbreaking for everyone. Astonishingly today, another friend who lives 10 minutes in the other direction has told me her husband had said exactly the same thing. These poor women are left picking up the pieces trying to work out what they did wrong. It's a bizarre set of circumstances.
I feel for all of them.
Perhaps I'm better off being single after all.

I’ve been out to check the rain gauge to see how much rain we got yesterday, big deal! We got 3.5 mils. Today is predicted to be stormy, so I’ll be keen to see if it happens.
I can’t remember if I put a photo of the Irises on yesterday so here it is,
For those who may not have picked this up from elsewhere, we did actually exchange contracts yesterday, with not much time to spare. So I will be on the move before the end of the month. Thank you for your positive comments and support. It has.been a long road, but I'll be moved before the end of the month. The mental stress is over. Now for the physical hard work of packing.
Congratulations @rowlandscastle444, house buying is an awful stressful experience. No matter how hard the packing and unpacking is it's the least of your worries at this stage. Enjoy life in your new home.
My new replacement washing machine arrived this week and it has been so nice to finally catch up on the washing, never thought I would enjoy the chore so much, but such a relief to get it all done after weeks of having to use launderettes.
Looking forward to Charlie coming home this week-end, especially as I don't have to 'share' him with his dad who is away in Morocco for two weeks, both I and Charlie are really enjoying the peace. We are hoping he likes it there so much he decides to stay for the winter, which is the reason for his trip, to see if it's suitable, fingers crossed here I can tell you.
Anyway off to work, cakes to bake and Christmas parties to organise.
Have a good day all.

Damp overnight but I think we’ve a brighter day ahead … there’s blue sky in the west.
After having rushed around a bit for the past couple of days I think today should be quieter. Son is just about to leave for work and I’ve come back to bed with a second coffee.

Good morning everyone, still a bit damp here today but so much better than yesterday. My body still wants to wake up on summer time, I could get up earlier but mostly there's no need. The Acers are all rapidly loosing their leaves, but the Bramley apple isn't even changing colour, similar with a couple of oak trees on the boundary at the plots. As the sun is so much lower, when it does shine, I could do with them loosing their leaves as the shade cast now lasts almost to midday. Regards to all.
