I hope you have recovered now after that horrid dream @Dovefromabove.Ā Ā
We arrived back in Norfolk at 4pm and our friends were waiting at the station to drive us to our cottage. The cottage was cold, only 10C inside. We put the heating on and lit the woodburner then went to the SM for supplies for the next 3 days, but we forgot the butter. I got some out of the freezer when I woke up.
I felt it was too chilly for comfort so I told OH I would take him to a local pub for dinner. I rang them first because Friday night can be busy and told them the house was cold so they set a table for us next to a radiator. We enjoyed our meal. I had salmon with a mushroom sauce and OH had mussels in a creamy sauce then sticky toffee pudding for us both, haven't had that for a while.
When we got back the sitting room had gone up to 16C but the fire had gone out. It's only a small woodburner. We watched the last episode of the Ex-wife wrapped in blankets. There is a frost this morning.

Morning all,Ā nice bright start here but we have a grass frost so it's cold. Well new washing machine is on it's way on Tuesday.Ā We checked out the local shop first,Ā then went to JL in Brent Cross, prices were same so we decided to support the local shop. We have gone for a Siemens this time,Ā I think the chap in the shop was surprised we didn't go for another Miele, but there is a £400 price difference and Siemens are offering a 5yr warranty, so we'll see.Ā
Iām glad I donāt have nightmares like that Dove. š³ Ā Iām a heavy sleeper.Ā
I donāt get themĀ often @āPat E" ⦠but I suppose after the year weāve had a few anxiety dreams are only to be expected. Itās fading now ā¦Ā
Son has set off to meet up with his colleague and head for London ⦠theyāll be picking up a luxury people carrier with blacked out windows to bring back ⦠as long as the police donāt think itās full of National Front or somesuch and pull them over ⦠theyād have left it and picked it up Monday but itās due out on hire again and itās got to be cleaned and valeted etc. Ā tomorrow. šĀ
Glad youāre back safe and sound @Busy-Lizzie ⦠your meal sounds lovely.Ā

Itās a bright and chilly one here today, I think weāve had an air frost through the night. After breakfast, my plan is to go in the garden and finish off all the fleecing and putting everything to bed. The gardener came yesterday and pruned back the magnolia - it had grown really tall during this summer. It still has plenty of leaves on, but more yellow ones are now visible after it has had its trim. There are a few branches to go in the green bin that fell into the neighbours garden at the back and he couldnāt retrieve - it looks like the neighbour has thrown them back for us, which is helpful as it saves us a walk round to their street. We have the last green bin collection week after next.
Goodness, that sounded a horrible dream @Dovefromabove. You must have been glad to wake up. I was, too, because I dreamt I was back at work and the inspectors were in to do a thorough check. Iāve been retired ages and still have those dreams occasionally - always a relief to wake up, as they seem so real š².
Evening @Pat E. Iāve got family visiting Melbourne at the moment and they are saying how hot itās getting, whilst we are saying how cold itās getting. š.
Hope your new w/m behaves itself @Allotment Boy and that you are happy with it. £400 difference in price is a lot, so I can understand why you chose the Siemens.
I hope you are now properly thawed out @Busy-Lizzie. Your meals sound delicious.
Hello all, I hope you are warming up now @Busy-Lizzie, I find I can't take the cold these days as I've got older, and being so hot all through the summer it takes me ages to get used to the dramatic changes. We've had a couple of days of good much needed rain so mustn't complain. I'm doing that three day BP reading at home as my BP was high at the last GP appointment (it always is), anyway it's completely within normal range so that's good. OH is about to go and prune back our Oleanders as it's stopped raining, the have got huge this year, I've had to remind him to wear gloves as they're toxic. Have a good day all.
Morning all, bright and sunny here, looks rather nice so think I'll do some leaf clearing up as soon as I've had my coffee. OH has walked to the paper shop but is limping badly this morning and he says his hip is very painful.Ā
Your meal sounded delicious @Busy-Lizzie, glad your place warmed up, it's horrid walking into a cold house when you're tired.
Hope your son's journey isn't too bad @Dovefromabove and that you've recovered from your bad dream. I tend to dream most nights and can remember most of it the morning after. I can even wake up, go to the loo, and then pick up the dream again, which is very odd.
We went for a cheaper washing machine earlier in the year as none of them seem to last very long these days. This one has loads of different programmes and I only use one of them! It's now telling me I've got to do a drum clean (2.75 hours) at a hot temp which I really resent wasting electricity/water on.Ā
Just stopping in briefly due to a migraine today.. It only seems a few days since the last one, so it is a trifle disappointing to get another so soon.
Tomorrow is bound to be a better day.Ā As always - best wishes to everyone.

Those kinds of dream are very unsettling aren't they @Dovefromabove?Ā I have now grown out of the having to sit an exam on a topic that I haven't read and my OH has grown out of the dreams where he arrives to do a gig with no equipment and no idea what he is supposed to play!
Glad you are back in our neck of the woods safe and sound - even if cold - @Busy-Lizzie. the temperature has certainly dropped in the last few days.
There are several things in the garden that need pruning back and that I can't manage.Ā I would get someone in but that would be an insult to my SIL who is a landscape gardener and did the pruning earlier in the year.Ā He says he'll do it again, but I know that his free time is quite precious.Ā So I'll just wait.
