Afternoon all, still a bit blowy here but we've got off mildly, nowhere as bad as other places. Daughter's ok down in Devon, still wet and windy and even her cat didn't want to go out this morning. I texted son in Bournemouth but hasn't yet replied so presume no news is good news. They are a good 3-4 miles inland so probably haven't been affected.
I've been back to the dentist this morning to have the three crowns fitted. Took the sedative beforehand but I'm not sure it had much effect. Declined the anaesthestic and the whole procedure took less and half an hour. I'm pleased with the result so might contemplate having more done perhaps next year. The big question is whether I think I'm going to live long enough to justify the cost!
Commiserations to @punkdoc, what a huge disappointment. Commiserations also to others who are suffering with various ailments.
Hope @Busy-Lizzie had a safe journey home. Saw a photo of a cross Channel ferry, really glad I wasn't on that one. Endured a hellish journey once across the North Sea from Holland to Harwich in a Force 9, never want to repeat that experience, even though I wasn't seasick.
Beautiful pictures @chicky, those gardens are stunning.
We got back safely, thanks @Lizzie27. 2h20 drive in pouring rain, no ferry thank goodness. Daughter lives near Poitiers. Soon heated up the house with the 2 woodburners.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Glad you're back safely @Busy-Lizzie. It seems from the news that Brittany and Normandy as well as the Channel Islands were badly affected but they are nowhere near you as they? There's nothing like a cheery woodburner to warm a house.
As @steephill says trains are a great way to get round Japan @D0rdogne_Damsel - super easy, very quick and always on time. Plus you get great views from the window …..
You and Charlie should go for it - you’d love it 😍
Beautiful picture of Dubrovnik - we loved it there when we went about 10 years ago. But very sobering when you realise what the different roof colours indicate. Must have been completely terrifying. And we don’t learn 😢
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ There’s quite a bit of blue sky out there 😃 Thankfully son stayed here yesterday and WFH … the A140 and A14 were blocked by floods .., only one of his colleagues could get to the office. I know he’ll want to get there today but there’s a picture on the Suffolk news website showing one of the roads to the industrial estate deep in floodwater …
Thankfully the access at the other end of the estate is on much higher ground so hopefully it’ll be ok 🤞

That's worrying @Dovefromabove. Hide his car keys. So third day of Covid, still have some slight fever, did not sleep well as per usual and feeling hard done by life. Which deep down isn't true. Autumn blues and boredom.
I’ve considered it @coccinella 😂 but he would just see it as a challenge … he’s a very determined chap! But he has promised me he’ll never risk driving his car through a flood again 😎 I do hope you’re feeling much better very soon. ☕️

Very grey here this morning, sea very choppy too, probably not going to take our usual dip this morning. I'm enjoying people watching in the breakfast room at the moment, such a lot of entertainment to be had making up 'back stories ' for them all. 😅
@coccinella, I do hope you start to feel a bit better today, not nice being stuck in, especially if you're not sleeping well, understandable that you're feeling down. I really struggle with the winter months, cold dark days, not as busy at work.... Give me a busy sunny day anytime.
I may well spend today researching our next destination, make good use of free time and not too clever outside. With the recommendations on here I may well look again at Japan. 😁
Stay safe everyone affected by the storm, I am hoping our flight back to France isn't going to be too bumpy tomorrow evening.....

Stay safe folks, we're not out of the woods yet.
