Morning. Rained overnight and it's not quite as cold today as yesterday.
Busy, hope your OH gets an appointment and gets things checked out. We are not, now, even allowed to walk into our surgery, it's all done by E-Consultation now. Terrible situation.Β
Have a nice day everyone and keep warm.
  • I've been out for my exercise, and I didn't even get wet!!
    😎
  • Christmas cards @Ladybird4 ? I've not thought about that yet!
    Maybe next year.

    Good morning Hazel.
@rowlandscastle444 if you start next years cards now you should then be able to tell everyone about your change of address!

Good morning Ruby, you sneaked in there. The man I spoke to at the company I got my laptop from was great. Between us we got the glitch sorted in less than 2 minutes. It all involved the Fn + F5 keys. (Don't ask me - I just did what I was told!).This was so much easier than trying to understand the advanced geekology on t'internet. I admit to being a geek but like instructions written in Ladybird English!

My wife has been more organised than me. Not surprising. She was a bilingual secretary and office administrator for years. She has informed most people.
Mind you, I was office manager (not the same company mind you), so I ought to be reasonably organised. Things have changed over the last 12 years.πŸ™„

    Good afternoon,

It’s very wet, cold and miserable here today. I did get out to the morning natter group though, which I enjoy. Whilst out, OH baked some scones, so there was a lovely smell in the kitchen when I returned.

The puddings are done and look good. I just need to re wrap them in fresh grease proof paper and foil now.

Glad you got your new laptop sorted @Ladybird4.Β

Just a warning to you all, whilst thinking about computers. OH was using it the other day when it suddenly locked and a voice announced that it had been locked by Microsoft, supposedly due to some suspicious activity, and it was necessary to ring the number given so they could unlock it. I was very suspicious, so checked on my computer, and sure enough it’s a scam. The computer isn’t locked, they are just trying to scare you into ringing the number so they can obtain bank details in order for you β€œto buy the software” needed to unlock it, but of course, once they’ve got your bank details they can do all sorts of nasty things - there is no software to buy to unlock it, but no doubt if you follow their guidance, they’ll be into your computer. OH hung up pretty quickly after I’d checked, but I’m so glad I was in and my antennae were on high alert, or I think he might have been scammed.Β

There’s so much to be on the lookout for these days, and unfortunately it has made me suspicious of anything connected with computers and phones.

@rowlandscastle444 - I think you are a bit of a rascal! Having said that, it was so nice to kick off the 'organisation' when I retired. Doing what I want, when I want and not having my day controlled by bells was such a pleasant change.
Good morning and thanks for the heads up about the scam @Red maple. It is definitely worthwhile having good virus protection. I wouldn't even dream of using a laptop/pc without it. I can just imagine the luscious smell in your kitchen!

I took OH to the surgery as I couldn't get through on the phone. He sat in the car and I went in. The receptionist said I should have phoned as they don't give same day appointments when you go there in person! She asked me to explain and it was only when I said that OH is over 80 that she became helpful. She typed his symptoms into the computer and said the duty doctor would ring sometime today.
