    Afternoon all.

Hazel, I'm so glad that you had lovely time with 23. Hope you are now resting. ๐Ÿ˜‚

LB, I tried fish and chips, and definitely will again. Who doesn't like fish and chips. This dish is little bit unappealing and I'm still not sure to try it.

Like Rubee I also had a quiet day. It is dark, but still no rain. It's dinner time for Max and cats, and they are all very inpatient.ย ย

    Good afternoon,

itโ€™s damp and dismal outside, but the fog has lifted.

We went to the remembrance service this morning- the first part is held at the memorial in our local park, and the remainder takes place in our church across the road. Very moving again.ย

The poppies look very effective draped on the porch of the church @rowlandscastle444. Have they done the same this year?

When we got home we had a warming coffee and then I put tonightโ€™s dinner into the slow cooker. The smell coming from the kitchen now is very appetising.

We had a successful morning in the garden yesterday, putting things to bed, tidying up debris and faded summer bedding and fleecing the plants requiring a bit extra protection. I took some cuttings from some daisy plants, which although are meant to be fairly hardy, are not necessarily - the ones we had last year didnโ€™t survive last years frosts, so we had to buy new ones. Iโ€™m not sure if the cuttings will root, but itโ€™s worth a try.

Hope Rosie soon feels more comfortable @Rubee. I can understand her reluctance to go to A & E, but if the swelling and pain doesnโ€™t improve maybe it would be wise to get it checked just to ensure nothing is broken.

@rowlandscastle444 were the poppies on that wonderful display knitted/crocheted?

Ah, you have me there, @Ladybird4
I'm uneducated on that sort of thing. I reckon they were crocheted, and then sewn together. We were amazed at the work put into it!!

@rowlandscastle444, however it was created it certainly was a labour of love. Most effective too.
Ruby, I am sorry to hear about Rosie. I do hope it is just a severe sprain and not a break.
@Biglad - you have made some lovely plant purchases there. My cyclamen have gone bonkers and spread everywhere in my garden. They are so beautiful I don't mind where they grow. The 'lumberjack' who removed the lilac tree rescued several large clumps which I planted immediately into my back garden and I'm pleased to say they transplanted successfully so I'm hoping they seed themselves madly there as well.
Ante, please, please, please don't tell me its jellied eels, pigs trotters or tripe! I know some people may like these foods but I, personally, cannot think of anything more disgusting! ๐Ÿคฎ

I've no idea, @Red maple We live in Kent, and were on holiday near there last year. We went specifically to see the castle.

When we came back from Dad's posting to Kuala Lumpur we lived for a short while in Tenterden @rowlandscastle444 and then Dad was posted to RAF Kinloss in Scotland. We did get about a bit!

Before we moved to France we lived in Kent, LB, quite near Tenterden, a village called Smarden. Have I mentioned it before?

We went to the Memorial Service at the church then at the war memorial. The other way round from you @Red maple . The church was full of cubs, scouts, brownies etc. I always find it quite emotional. This afternoon we watched last night's Remembrance celebration from the Albert Hall.

Then we went to the Community pub for a beer and a chat with some locals.

We came back with invitations to a lunch, a cocktail evening and information about the village Christmas Craft Fair. The calendar is filling up! We are going to a play in a village hall on Friday, a Pantomime and an opera evening with dinner in December. Alsoย the village fireworks on the 25th in my post above. They were rained off on the 5th. They are at the village hall which is in a field between 2 villages, so not too scary for animals.

I'm trying to empty our tall water -butt, @Biglad . The hose "gun" spring popped out once when I was putting some water in the tub and I need to retrieve it. I have to hold the handle in all the time I use the hose instead of just pressing the bit that holds the handle in place. My hand aches after a while!
Rubee, ouch, hope Rosie is ok. You weren't ย there ย when I last posted. hopefully it isn't broken? Please pass on my best wishes for a speedy recovery.ย
@Red maple ย you have had a busy couple of days, plenty of gardening, too cold here to stay out too long, ย but well done you. The Remembrance Services are very touching. On the TV last night, towards the end, there was a little boy singing a solo ( well known tune but can't remember name) and he sent the hairs on the back of my neck going he had such a beautiful, clear and pure. It was magnificent to hear.I will be keeping my fingers crossed that your daisy cuttings survive...me with the rose too๐Ÿ™‚
@Ante1, is the dish mince and dumplings? Yorkshire puds? A curry of some sort? Hmmmm๐Ÿค” A clue maybe?
@Busy-Lizzie ,oh-oh, you're going to very busy( as usual) by the sounds of all your invitations๐Ÿ™‚ Should be a nice run up to Christmas. I can't wait to go the Panto...I started ย to tell 23 the story of Jack and The Beanstalk but he zoned out after about three pages๐Ÿ™„
