Good afternoon all. Well I bit the bullet and went down into town and at first there was a little bit of sunshine. By the time I had finished in the Bank the wind had started to rise and by the time I got in Debi arrived and the wind has been blowing a hooley ever since. It is starting to go dark already. I do hope that the wind drops as I do not want to have to lie in bed listening to the roof tiles rattling.
I think I'm pretty much on top of all my Christmas shopping SGL and the 5 family birthdays I have in December too.

  • Our village War memorial.
  • Oops it's sideways.
    You're very organised @Ladybird4ย
If I'm honest, I can't really get in the right frame of mind. Not looking forward to Christmas this year, but will put on a brave face for the Poppets .ย

There you go SGL. That reminds me of the 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' display of ceramic poppies in 2014. Lovely. I bought one of those poppies and it is on display in my living room all the time.
Yes, it will be a hard and poignant time for you SGL but those little treasures who are your poppets will help to soften the sadness.

LB is right SGL, the little ones will help you through it as will other family members. It's one of those ' firsts' that will be hard but we're all here to support you, if needed.ย

My next door neighbour, who is still at work, texted me to ask if I could check on her little girl's trampoline so I went down my garden, through the hippopotamus wallow and walked gingerly to the fence. The trampoline was fine but one of her patio chairs was upside down against her other fence. It seemed to be wedged and therefore safe. Then the old rain started. I refuse to go out again!

  • Thank you @Ladybird4 and @Songbird-2 So very kind.ย  Every day is difficult, but the closer it gets to Christmas the harder I'm finding it.ย  My boys, family and friends have been amazing.ย
The poppies are crochet. LB. Photo doesn't do them justice. Such clever people to make this. I've one of those Poppies too, it's on a shelf, rather than on the metal stem.ย
Thank you for turning the photo round.ย

You are most welcome SGL. I really must try and get to grips with crocheting. I can do very basic stuff but I will find it easier now we have the dark nights and the magnetic attraction of the garden has lessened.

    Good morning all.

Wet and windy morning, so I'll again use car. I slept well after visit cottage and completely free shower on the field. I got two good news yesterday. First one was that my pound bills arrived in bank and I can collect the today, and second one I saw on tv. New book will arrive in bookstores just before Christmas, new edition of The fall of Numenor. I'm looking forward.ย
Now is time for tea. Hope you all slept well.
