Good morning everyone.Rowlandcastle444.I hope you have good news from your tests . LB I think gardening here is nigh on impossible . I hope we have some dry weather before Christmas so that we can get the gardens sorted .
Tonight we are going to the pub quiz, we've been invited to make a team with a couple in our village who also have a home in France. I've never been to a pub quiz. I hope it isn't all soaps and football.
Yesterday we did the weekly shop and then had a wander around the town, despite the drizzle.
Yesterday, in mad moment, I bought an evening dress online and a black faux fur jacket to go with it. The dress is navy with lace and sparkly bits on it, long. I've wanted one for ages and always thought it wasn't worth it but in the last few years we've been to 3 black tie birthday parties and 4 opera evenings when I could have worn one. Hope it fits.
Yes, Ruby, I'm beginning to think it will be next year before my tidying up gets done. We seem to be accelerating towards Christmas now with all that that entails.
Busy, that is a very pretty dress - one my Bestie would approve of for her cruises. I haven't worn a dress or even skirt for over seven years and I wouldn't even wear one for a posh do. I am far more comfortable in jeans. Having thought about that I probably wouldn't even want to go to a posh do and definitely not an opera evening!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I wear jeans nearly every day in winter but dresses in summer. We don't go to many posh dos, just now and then. I love opera, ballet and classical music. OH would like to go to Covent Garden but it's so expensive nowadays. I went a few times when I was young with 1st OH when it was a fiver a ticket, though a fiver then was a lot more than a fiver now. We sometimes go to the filmed live operas and ballets at the cinema.
I've never been on a cruise. We've been watching The Good Ship Murder. One review said it was like Midsomer Murders on a cruise ship. It's like a huge floating hotel and fills me with horror! I'm not comfy with big towns and crowds, country girl at heart.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Debi nipped back to mine and chucked one of those chairs back onto the lawn @Ladybird4. I'm going to have to find somewhere to store them or weigh them down.
I just watched an item on BBC about the need to educate smokers that their butts are actually rubbish. One of those messages that make me seethe with rage against humanity. Is society so thick that it believes that smokers are just unaware (because they are so thick)? Then there's the Middle East, Ukraine (and all the other war-torn places that haven't been chosen for us to be exposed to at the moment). We deserve extinction. Allow the natural world to take over.
Morning all. @rowlandscastle444,m good to hear you got all the tests done in one day and that the transport had upped their game. Concentrate on your move now. LB, goodness, sorry to hear the storm returned to your area, did it cause any damage? Hope not. We hate high winds.Take care today particularly if it's still blowing like mad. Busy, your dress sounds lovely and you will look the part for your next posh do or outing. I've noticed that long, casual dresses are making a bit of a come-back ,those floaty things, but have been through the era/age of those so not really my thing now. Biglad, our world is mad at the moment, but all we can do is to get through each day the best we can in helping and supporting others.
Busy, I agree with you completely. I would hate with a passion going on a cruise. My Bestie has to have a different posh dress for every evening with matching shoes, handbag etc. She does my head in when she is packing. We do have a laugh about it but when I see those huge cruise ships - so top heavy - I dread what would happen if they capsize. When she talks about making sure she has a verandah I just say that they remind me of pig pens. Cruise liners just make me think of cattle transporters. Each to his/her own. She is frightened of flying - which I absolutely love, hence her cruising holidays. She usually drives down to Southampton to pick up the cattle truck from there.
Good morning @Biglad I watched that news item with incredulity too and I can empathise with your last comment. We don't deserve the earth.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good morning Hazel. I must have been writing my posts when your appeared online. One of the branches of the hydrangea I planted where the lilac had been was completely snapped off by the wind. I went out briefly to put some rubbish in the bin and its Baltic out there. Thats when I found the broken branch. That went into the green bin. It is good that you can adjust the height of the footstool Hazel. You can change it according to how comfortable you feel. It will help you to support your blankets as you are knitting them.

quite breezy here today and the sky keeps darkening as if we are going to have another downpour. Fortunately, the pots seem to still be where they should be.
Feeling frustrated with the big river company at the moment. They reckon a parcel I was expecting yesterday has been delivered. It hasn’t, at least not to us, and we were in when it is supposed to have been left and the doorbell wasn’t rung as it usually is. Anyway, I got on to the “how was your delivery”, hit the “not good” button and it suggested that it could be nearby and that often parcels turn up within 24 hours, but if not, to get back in touch - but my question is, how do you get back in touch? There’s no number to ring, no contact button, nothing, as far as I can see. My OH was also expecting a parcel yesterday which they say has been delivered, but again not to us. I’ll try the “not good” button again, but am not optimistic of a positive outcome.
Cruising isn’t my thing, either. I can think of nothing worse than being cooped up on a large ship with hundreds of others, then rushing round places to have to then rush back to the ship before it sails again. I suppose I don’t like being organised by others to that degree, OH and I like to visit places at leisure, take our time if we like the place and leave to go elsewhere if we don’t. Each to their own, of course, and I know some people really enjoy cruises. We did a river cruise once, and would never bother again, but to be fair I think part of the disappointment was the organisation shambles of the whole trip, the tour guides on the boat with us were poor, to put it mildly.

I'm glad the hospital visit went smoothly @rowlandscastle444.

It isn't this one but it's very similar, sleeves and skirt are less full and it isn't as sparkly. www.jjshouse.com/a-line-scoop-illusion-ankle-length-lace-evening-dress-with-sequins-017288708-g288708?utm_source=criteo&utm_campaign=crtrem_UK_310160&utm_medium=cpc&cto_pld=-Rlz9MIfAAC5wP5jIfYo7w
