Sssshhh Hazel, @rowlandscastle444 is typing in invisble ink! Don't give up on your rose cutting.
Hello all later arrivals. I went into the garden to fill the bird feeder and put some stuff in my compost bin and nearly fell flat on my face as I slipped in the gloopy mud near the pond. Luckily, I didn't quite fall over and managed the 'I meant to do that Basil Fawlty impression' look on my face. It has confirmed my decision to stay indoors this p.m. and write some Christmas Cards.
Busy, it is lovely to have that type of decision to make. Enjoy your rose browsing! Your local sounds like a nice place to be with lots of different entertainments to dip in and out of.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
No worries, @rowlandscastle444 .Be careful in the loft and remember it will all be over soon.
Ive potted on most of the Physostegia seedlings now ( doing well) and they're back on the kitchen windowsill in wee pots of their own now.
Im thinking of going into the greenhouse later on to try and organise it a bit better, we can hardly get in the door and the shelving tops are full to brimming.
I might have to pot on my remaining foxgloves into bigger pots but they will have to go outside in the small plastic greenhouse as there will be no room in the greenhouse. Hope they'll be okπ¬
Your foxgloves should be fine @Songbird-2. Mine seed themselves outside and when they are big enough I move them to other places in the garden, so they are outside all the time.
@rowlandscastle444 on my laptop there is a list top right that says discussions, bookmarks, posts etc when you write a post that you haven't yet sent it adds drafts to the list. You can click on it and delete your post. I hope I've got it right, I'm on my phone at the moment.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Thanks @Busy-Lizzie, I have tried planting out foxgloves straight into the ground before, but they don't tend to do well here.( for some reason). I've done them all now, some were quite potbound and they are snug away in the outside plastic greenhouse. I've tided the greenhouse up so we can actually get in ok now and have cleared a shelving unit Β top, looks better.
OH is going great guns with his raised bed thing, next thing is to cut out some grass and start to turn underneath soil and add all sorts of goodies into it, to weather over winter.
Oh LB, that's how accidents happen. The rains and soil/mud cause hazards underfoot so please be careful whilst outside. Our path across the lawn is dangerously slippy sometimes and we have to gingerly step along it and go slowly or we would be feet over head .Hope you haven't jarred yourself...you'll find out tomorrow!
weβve had lovely weather today. Took a trip into town and got everything on the list. Isnβt it nice when someone pays you a compliment? I was putting my coat back on after having a coffee, when a lady commented how nice she thought my hair looked. Iβve done nothing special to it, but her comment really lifted my spirits π.
Thanks all for the advice regarding contacting the big river company. I did so, and they told me to get back to them if the parcel failed to turn up by last evening (16th). Anyway, 2 days after it had been incorrectly delivered, it turned up - it had been delivered to another street that has a similar address to ours (only one word different), and the lady brought it round. I thanked her, of course, but inwardly was a bit cross, as sheβd opened it - even thought the address label was clearly and correctly addressed to me, with my street and my name on π² - she said she thought it was from her son for her π€·ββοΈ. Anyway, at least she brought it round, and everything Iβd ordered was there.
It's finally Friday afternoon. Weather was very moody today, we had rain, sun, wind. School is finished for next seven day. I still have few chores to do, must deliver one huge pumpkin to my colleague, then short visit to SM. Tomorrow is bank holiday here and everything except gas station will be closed. All my cats are waiting for dinner, so must go. See you little bit later.
Had a large old broken terracotta pot, so I took a sledgehammer to it, and packed the pieces in another pot. Fork has been taped to spade, hoe to scrake, sledgehammer to pickaxe. Dustbin is full of garden equipment - we're taking our dustbin. It was a wedding present!! It also comes in useful for transporting stuff.Β How does one pack large watering cans? Maybe I can tape them inside inverted compost bins! Still leaves the wheelbarrow, strimmer (got rid of lawnmower) and so much more. Sigh!! The odd item is a stool - the type with two steps that fold underneath. A bit like this one, but only more decrepit, and very heavy for what it is.Β
I am so pleased to hear that you got your parcel @Red maple - even though it had been opened. I would give that person the benefit of the doubt as I have actually done that once myself - not with a parcel however but with a letter. It was for my neighbour - across the drive from me and I was mortified when I realised what I had done. My neighbours were lovely and told me not to worry. The person who had you parcel did bring it round with contents complete so you can breathe easy.
Nice to have the compliment about your hair as well. These little things do give one a 'lift'. I had a nice text from one of my niblings this afternoon. One of his clients has a much loved and very old Weigela that needs a bit of thinning out. They were thinking about dividing it but he thought I was the right person to get in touch with to talk about taking cuttings so they could grow on another in a larger space and give the old shrub a big tidy up. We exchanged a few texts and that gave me a 'lift' as well.
