Marti has kept me indoors - again @Biglad. I ate the last of my tomatoes today - ones that had ripened in my kitchen having been picked earlier. I still have to recycle the parent plants.

Back from the fair. We had a snack lunch there with some friends. I bought tickets fot the tombola and the raffle. A friend has just rung to say I've won a raffle prize! I bought an oil painting of a winter scene with snow that a friend, an artist, painted and a Christmas wreath which is now hanging on the kitchen door under the porch.

I don't like Flora very much or anything that isn't real buttery butter with salt in it. I always leave some out in the butter dish in the kitchen so that it's spreadable. I like whole milk too. Comes of having kept Jersey cows for years. Just house cows and a small holding, not a herd or a farm. I used to make butter, cream and cream cheese.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Thanks LB, I will look out for Benecol and give it a try. Floral is now as hard as a brick.

I've done some indoor jobs today and then went and helped Oh to clear up after his stint in the garden. He's made the raised bed and decided to start digging out the grass. He stuck at it up until it was all out and then dug over all the compacted soil/clay underneath. A good few hours work done and the job is done. We must get some topsoil and manure/ compost Β and start digging it all in and then the ground will be prepped for next year. Everywhere was muddy when he'd finished, so I helped him clear up and ended up getting muddy trousers myself.Β

23 has tonsillitis and is now on antibiotics. Not doing so well poor mote.

Ante, glad you Β got the hotel booking sorted, that's must have been a panic moment for you.Β

Busy, hope the craft fair has gone well and you've got some nice bits and pieces. The musical play last night sounds enjoyable. After a musical concert I have to have some time in the peace and quiet before I retire to bed. The head is " singing" with all the noiseπŸ™‚

Red Maple, hope you have had a good day whatever you've done.Have you got your Christmas shopping done? I was trying to remember what we'd bought our two nephews this morning but p, because we have wrapped everything up p, it was hard to tell. 😬 Just as well OH encourages me to write down a list of everyone's name and then write down what presents we've got them, as we buy themπŸ€πŸ™‚ Godsend.

Biglad, don't blame you for staying in in the warmth. Outside will always wait for another day. You've got a free plant there. We have a lemon balm plant( mum gave it to us years ago) and it's rampant in the summer.Β

Once it stopped raining, I forced myself to get out for a bit but then it went dark :o

Just a bit of tidying done. It's the last collection of the garden waste bin next week (until March) so making sure that is utilised is the priority.

Hello @Songbird-2, yes, I’ve just about got all the Christmas present shopping done, just a few bits and pieces left for OH. We cut down massively on family present buying last year, (there are no small children now), Β as everyone has just about everything they want or can purchase it as and when, and it was becoming such a headache knowing what to buy everyone (and same for them buying for us). We would much rather they put their money to where it’s needed most, especially with cost of living being what it is. Instead, we decided amongst ourselves that a nice card would do, and a small birthday gift when it’s someone’s birthday time instead. It might sound Scrooge like, but I think everyone was at the stage of β€œI wonder what so and so would like” and things were being bought that the recipient didn’t really need, already had or didn’t really like. There’s a lot of us, too, so it was becoming too expensive.

I’m quite ahead on the food shopping, too, as the meat order is in, and other things are in the freezer or larder, though obviously the last minute perishables will have to wait 😁.

Congratulations on your raffle win Busy. Do you know what it is yet?
Hazel, I was definitely as muddy as you the other day! If your rose cutting doesn't make it through the winter at least you have the lemon balm gift from your Mum to treasure. I have been knitting this afternoon as it has not been possible to work outside.

That's very true LB, hadn't thought of that . Makes the potential loss of the rose a bit more palatable. Thanks! I've been doing some knitting too later this afternoon.Β
Red Maple, we decided the same a few years back but it's mainly grandkids nowadays. But as they have got older we have decided , just this year, to cut out presents( apart from a box of chocs etc), and just give money. Have no idea what they are all into now. They do appreciate the money though.Β
Busy, well done! The picture sounds nice too and the door wreath. Wonder what you've won ?πŸ€”πŸ€”
