Morning all, we are not quite as hot as some folk as we have Saharan dust cloud. It was Tui who is going to the Opthalmologist today @Dovefromabove. OH is up in the loft making good with the insulation that the plumber pulled apart earlier in the year. More tomatoes to pick today, to be quite honest I am getting sick of the sight of them.....sorry to those who have difficulty growing them. Then some dead heading to be done if it's not too hot. A neighbour is popping round later to help OH put in a sink. I hope all goes well with appointments today for those that have them.
Good news on the health appt. @Pat E. Hope everyone else's appointments go OK.
Still feel tired after the descent of the family at the weekend. But I'm heading out into the garden. Yes, the hottest part of the day but I'll be in the shady bit with the brambles.
I didn't sleep very well and there was a mozzie in the room but I don't think it bit me, just buzzed.
I've spent 1 1/2 hours in the garden, weeding the vegetable garden and tidying up a flower bed, deadheading etc.
@didyw I think you'll be busy again soon. I read in the Eastern Daily Press that you will be organising another food fair. I hope it all goes smoothly. I would like to come but it will be just after we go back to France again.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Slept through last night, and out into the garden by 9am. More pruning and bramble removal while there was enough shade for comfort, then loaded the car with shredded greenery ( in blue Ikea bags!) and some assorted metal that OH had accumulated in case it would be useful for something! No queue at the tip, so in, unloaded, and out in less than six minutes, very satisfying. Out for lunch, will find a shady trail for a walk and then pick up some bits from Waitrose on the way home. Feel very virtuous and guilt free, having got some jobs done.
I was cutting the grass down by the lake and there was a cormorant sitting on the grass. It was only about 10 metres from me and just watched me for a bit before flying off. I've never known one 10 miles inland
It’s a real treat seeing unexpected wildlife isn’t it Hostafan.
Did anyone watch this Sunday’s Country File? The wonderful Dame Judi Dench and the lovely wildlife camera man Hamza Yassin were out spotting Golden Eagles in Scotland… spoiler alert… it was very moving to see how overwhelmed Dame Judi was. She reminds me of my maternal Grandmother somehow so it was a joy to watch.
Enjoy the warm September sunshine, those who have it. In two months time we’ll be getting the bobble hats out wondering where the year has gone.
Morning everyone. 20c in here this morning. Yippee!
Our firewood man didn’t arrive yesterday so we are expecting him this morning. That’ll be the last delivery this year. Then we will use the scrappy stuff here on our hundred acres, if needed.
Might go to town if we feel like it.
Had to laugh.. I checked the pkt of tablets in case I need to get another from the pharmacy. I read the chit chat on the pkt and spotted that it might make me drowsy (and of course no driving or alcohol). I’ve been worrying that I’m always drowsy! That’ll teach me to read the labels in future. 😳

It wasn't as hot as forecast yesterday, we had an overcast sort of day so we could be getting some of the Sahara sand.
Ophthalmologist (didn't see you there @Dovefromabove ) went well - no change in vision but the start of a cataract in my right eye. Ho hum.
Nothing exciting on the cards for today - probably because I'm reading a good book!!!
Have a pleasant day all.
