The lovely lady who chairs our bookclub sent a reminder about it yesterday - it's tomorrow evening. I had already read the book but planned on skimming through it today ready for tomorrow. Turns out - when I went to pick up that book from the library I was given next month's book! So, I haven't read the book we'll be discussing tomorrow and I haven't already read it. Quickly downloaded it to my kindle and started it last night. Too hot to garden so I'll be curling up with my kindle instead. I saw the sea last weekend - that'll have to do.
Big shout out to the Red Crescent, who are doing an amazing job in Morocco. I worked with them in Syria and they are just the bravest of the brave, usually working with far poorer equipment than we have in the west. I shall be raising a glass to them whilst watching the rugby.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Evening all, we're visiting with my sister at the moment and we all went to see my brother this afternoon. He's in the 20 bed Rehab section of a community hospital and we were relieved to see him looking much better than expected - a bit frail but able to get in and out of a wheelchair which was very good news. He's in one of those old Victorian hospitals, a big one, rather under utilised we thought. The staff were lovely and it was very quiet and peaceful. The only complaint he had was that the staff kept waking him up every hour throughout the night to take his BP so consequently he was getting very tired. Not conducive to a good recovery.
We had some heavy rain/lightening on the way home but nothing major. Saw the Lancaster bomber fly right over the car as well - bro will be very miffed he missed it!
Haven't had time really to read up about the earthquake but sounds absolutely dreadful.
Glad the birthday tea went well but what a shame there was no cake left over for you. I had a lovely walnut and coffee slice for lunch today, a bit naughty but I do crave cake now and then.
The answer is to have your shopping delivered @Dovefromabove. It works a treat for us since the early days of Covid, haven't done a big shop instore since.
Another hot night in view here. 🥵 We went for a walk this morning and I just couldn't wait to get back inside. I must have drunk 5 litres of water today plus tea and coffee.
I am glad you got to see your brother @Lizzie27. The waking up for checking his bp is routine, they have to do it, I am sure there will be less of it as it gets better. Fingers crossed for him.
@Lizzie27 … glad your BIL is on the mend … slow but sure.
Why not contact Bomber Command telling them what happened, how he’s doing and where he is etc … I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they contact him, send a get well letter at the very least … maybe even a visit from a Liaison Officer … that’d perk him up wouldn’t it 😊 👍

Thanks folks. It's actually my younger brother Dove rather than BIL. His stepdaughter (who they were staying with) is well known at Bomber Command as she's a frequent visitor in an official capacity (not allowed to disclose any more) so nice things may well happen.
Hope your brother's funeral goes ok, I think it's this week? It's bound to feel very odd for you for some time to come.
We know BP checking is routine @coccinella, but surely a good night's sleep when you are ill is more important? You could surely cut it down to at least every 4 hours rather than hourly so a patient had more of a break in between.
Had a lovely roast lamb dinner at my sister's when we got back. Now just chilling on the sofa with a decaf coffee, catching up on here and then bedtime I think. The others are still drinking wine out on the patio but it's too cold for me and I dislike moths/daddy long legs flying around me.
At last we are starting to give us some news about the earthquake. Sounds very bad. Also, Greece. I feel so sorry for everyone involved. Brings back unpleasant memories of the cyclone in Darwin when we lost everything. You never quite replace special things.
no sign of the sheep this morning, but they’ll appear around the dam as it warms up.
I have murderous feelings towards my dentist. The tooth has an abscess now. Left a message on her answering machine. Why oh why didn't she tell me back in July that the extraction was beyond her? She books me in for the 4th september only to tell me on the morning of the intervention that no: she can't do it, I have to go to a maxillo effing facial surgeon. The dentist surgeon of course couldn't see me immediately, appointment wednesday 5pm. And now I am in trouble, fortunately it is not painful. Yet.
I am so cross, wedding getting closer. I am flying on the 19th.🤬🤬🤬 Rant over.

Sounds a good exchange @Pat E.
