Morning all, Happy Birthday @Busy-Lizzie, hope you enjoy your special day.

We're also lunching out today, meeting friends in a nice canalside pub about an hour away. We had been expecting sunshine so were going in our 1938 Austin but it's drizzling so may have to take the modern (which I'd much prefer anyway!!).

@Pat E. Just read an article about elderly people falling over, together with tips on how to prevent falls. Apparently over 1000 people over 75 who had fallen at home were taken to A & E in 2020 in the North West of England alone. However, when you think about it, the numbers are bound to increase as there are more of us - we're the baby boomers! I've had some grab handles installed in the bathrooms, a hand rail by steps in the garden and removed a purely decorative chair in the bedroom which was impeding a straight walk from bed to en-suite. We're also having our small flight of stairs remodelled to be less steep.

    Have a good day everyone.

Thanks Lizzie. Yes I’m not surprised since I’m now 83. The place I was walking was outside and getting set up to photograph the smoke from the fires, but missed my footing ( probably on a rock or pebble).  Stupido, I know.

not stupido at all. It can happen to young people too. They just heal quicker.

I’m so impressed @Pat E that your hubby is out there fighting fires, despite his age and medical issues. Real community spirit!
Rained heavily in Bath this morning, but thankfully drying up now. I have packed badly, left my rain mac at home and brought an umbrella instead, and wore trainers and brought sandals as a spare. Should have worn my waterproof trainers. It was very hot for the last two days, and I had to travel light for the train. Never mind.

It would be interesting to see what I’d think of Bath if I saw it in the rain today instead of glorious sunshine, but I’m sure it would still be better than it was twenty odd years ago. The centre was very run down then, and a magnet for drunks and those unfortunate enough to have nowhere else to go, but didn’t make for a comfortable experience. Yesterday, I particularly noticed all the lovely flowers, and the proliferation of outdoor cafe seating. Felt very continental!
And I bought a copy of the latest Thursday Murder Club book in WHSmiths for half price, so very pleased with myself.

I hope you got a sticker or a lollipop for being so brave with that injection @tui34!

Hope you are having fun in Snape & Aldeburgh today @Busy-Lizzie and being spoiled rotten for your birthday!

Haven't been to Bath since my daughter was 7  - nearly 50 years ago!  A friend lives there but he always visits us rather than the other way around.

Hope your bruises haven't manifested too horrifically @Pat E and that the fires are now safely out.  And your OH is OK!

We have a wedding reception to attend this afternoon, so just debating which of my two 'wedding' dresses to wear.  OH will wear suit but without the waistcoat or tie and a colourful shirt.  The happy couple are both artists and I'm sure they will be sporting some kind of goth/punk vibe.

I certainly did not @didyw and the practitioner was conspicuous by his absence after the intervention.    No apology - nothing.  The lovely radiologist was left to clean up the mess.

I have been watching the preliminaries for the Americas Cup in Villanova, Barcelona.  New technology is a far cry from my yachtie days in Auckland.  Goodness me, they're not even on the water now!!

Boredom setting in and I watched the kiwis smash the poor Namibians last night (rugby)!   Might watch the second half of Wales/Portugal.

A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

Back from the wedding reception.  It was lovely but we didn't know a soul apart from the bride and groom.  We stayed for the speeches and toasts but left before the cake so we could catch the shops to get something for supper!
