  • Good afternoon,  volunteer day at Capel today. The morning stayed dry and mostly bright.  Spent most time cutting back, and sadly,  digging out plants that have failed to recover from the winter damage they  endured.
The rain came just after 2pm so that was my excuse to finish and drive home. Luckily the heavy rain held off till after I got home.

We were just about to go out to lunch when we saw several workmen gathered around a hole in the grass verge. I asked one who they were and he said they were installing fibre internet. Then the man in the hole said he was from BT Open Reach and he was mending the phone line for No ** - our house number. Apparently we have an ancient aluminium wire that needs replacing, but they probably won't.

We went off for lunch and enjoyed it as usual, came home and Internet and phone were working. We thought "Hurray". Now nothing is working. ☹️😖🤬

Gardening sounds very positive @D0rdogne_Damsel, as does forward planning, something to look forward to.

Our digi box thingy is installed and seems to be working okay, we are pleasantly surprised at the improved picture quality.

Really enjoyed my luxury facial this afternoon and floated out of the saloon. Have to be quite careful driving home sometimes as it can make me feel quite 'dopey' - even more than usual! More torrential rain on the way home.

DIL had a ghastly journey up to Gloucester early this morning, got diverted off the M27 and had to fight her way over to Marlborough on very narrow lanes following her Sat-nav. She's not yet familiar with all the alternative roads northwards. We've had a lovely dinner and she's having an early night.

My poorly brother is safely home I'm pleased to say. My sister and her partner went to the rescue and have just reached home, they're absolutely shattered having done a huge round trip to Lincs, Stoke on Trent and back to near Leicester. They're my heroes tonight!

    Good morning all.

Grey and dismal here - but we had some nice rain yesterday which has freshened up the ground.  I'm taking it easy but the need to pull big weeds when the ground is so soft is strong!!  My huge lavender has given up the ghost and needs taking out.

Excellent! @D0rdogne_Damsel   You have a plan!!
Here's hoping you get your internet connection back on @Busy-Lizzie

My nephew and niece who were driving from Madrid to the Dolomites in Italy where they now live, stopped overnight.  It was so lovely to see them and so glad that we could sit out under the pergola (smothered in mozzie repellent) for dinner.  It was still and calm.  Then yesterday morning,  before the rain came around 11am we had a quick coffee in the village square before they headed home.  They did the journey in one go arriving after midnight last night.

For all the Matthews who are on this forum:
Quand vient Saint Mathieu, l'été adieu!

The days and nights are equal now in hours as autumn sets in and spring sets in in the southern hemisphere.

    Have a pleasant day everyone.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

Morning @tui34 and @Dovefromabove, and of course everybody else yet to join us.

Very pleased to see that the wind has dropped and we have sunshine this morning, makes such a difference in mood. DIL left early before we were awake and we must put a move on, we've got a busy morning ahead of us. OH is expecting a friend to come over to help mend the old Austin, the gardener's coming today as it's been far too wet and windy to garden these last few days and then the cleaners are coming as well.

I need to pick the apples whilst the weather is good.

    It's all go today!

Hello Forkers.  For some unknown reason, I haven’t been able to get into the site.  At last, here I am.

Songbird, I haven’t forgotten my promise. When I’m organised, I’ll put the doll pattern on for you.

  • Good to see you @Pat E 👋 😃

Breeezy here rather than blustery, which is good 😊

Son is having a lie in .., he took a bit of a tumble on the stairs this morning … managed to save himself but knocked his arm and ribs a bit. Nothing to worry about but he’s got nothing he absolutely has to do at work this morning so he’s gone back to bed for a bit.
OH is in the studio and I’m going to make a moussaka …

    Have a good day folks … ☕️ 😊
