  • Spinach as you say @tui34 … chard … and soon be time for autumn sowings of peas and beans … our veg patch is totally overgrown this year .., and OH is still having problems with his knees .., I think I’m going to be the one to start wielding the fork and roads and get it cleared. Little and often us obviously the sensible way to go … problem is I’m an ‘all or nothing’ sort of person … I like to get stuck in and see a job through … 🙄

    Good morning

another sunny day here. Fridge is empty, shopping needs doing. I haven't finished de-rusting and painting the plants supports, it' a bit of a boring job; I also started a cross-stitch and I shouldn't have really until the previous project is finished. Tooth is there but not giving trouble 🤞.

The times I go to the garden with one thing in mind and then I see the rest  ... @Dovefromabove. Take it easy, it might be worth cooking a Sunday meal for Womble 😉

  • Think my Womble is working 8 days a week at the moment @coccinella Bless her.  If she does get a day off I don’t want her spending 2.5 hours in a car to come here and back. 😊

Sorry to hear of your problems, @Lizzie27. The only bagged salad we eat is the rocket salad from Waitrose. I’ve always been very cautious of things labelled ready to eat, and wash them thoroughly anyway. Haven’t gone over the use by date yet, and certainly won’t risk it now!
Glad your tooth is behaving, @coccinella. Long may that last. Extra flossing can be helpful, and applying the corsydyl with a cotton bud in the area can help too. Best not to use the mouthwash at the same time as cleaning with a fluoride toothpaste, as it can sometimes result in staining, but shouldn’t be a big problem unless used long term.
Ive got another thorn in my thumb after yesterday’s bramble removal. I must try the sticking plaster trick, @Pat E.

Sorry to hear about our upset tum @Lizzie27.
Hope the trip to Moira's friend's to advise on garden redesign was fun @punkdoc.
How funny to spy on your OH from France @Busy-Lizzie.  But how comforting to be able to check in, in that way.
Glad you got a better night's sleep @Dovefromabove.  And that you are getting a hint of the sun @Pat E.

We had to move some Festival stuff that was stored in one place to another place over the road from it yesterday.  Each of the buildings was nice and cool so not too arduous.  I was with two others, younger and fitter than me but I think I did my bit.

Did some pot watering first thing - it was nice then; felt a bit like being on holiday.  But now too hot to garden and anyway, I have a report to write.

    Hi all

    Another beautiful day.
Had a great time helping to plan a friends garden. When they have dug the new beds, I will be helping her choose suitable plants. What's not to like?

  • Although I didn’t think I had much to do today, it’s actually been quite a busy morning here … son had an early start, then I drove OH to work. When I got back and did the watering and a bit of tidying, then I made a sticky ginger loaf cake and now a big batch of ragu is chuntering on the job … I’ll use it to make a lasagne tomorrow. Tonight OH and I will have pan roasted cod fillets on butter bean mash with Cavalo nero and new potatoes, do the prep has been done for that. Son says he’ll probably eat out or have a takeaway … so that’s almost all my jobs done for the day. I’ll wave the Vax around downstairs and then have some lunch.
    Hope everyone’s having a good day 😎

Afternoon folks, sitting in the cool with a cuppa right now, fan on, curtains drawn - it's hit 30c today which is slightly cooler than yesterday Car is covered with Saharan sand so we may have had a small shower last night - the roof was wet.

The cleaners arrived this morning and the house is sparkly clean. They have enthused me to be tidier and put things away which does make cleaning the house easier. What a job though in this kind of weather. The Sainsbury's chappie delivered this afternoon - I know I'm paying for these conveniences but at least I'm keeping some people in employment!

Glad you enjoyed your garden planning visit @punkdoc - who knows, a second career?

@didyw - do you ever stop for breath?

Not sure what to have for dinner tonight, still trying to keep food bland and easily digestible so it was chicken last night. I don't think I've ordered enough stuff for dinners for a week though, I couldn't have been concentrating. I did have three pots of my face cream delivered - on special offer!

Up and out for breakfast, and a shorter and slower walk than usual - not as hot and sunny here as yesterday, but overcast and very humid, so felt very draining. Got back and OH managed to finish giving the grass a cut, while I shredded all the brambles and prunings from yesterday. Then we popped the bags of shreddings and the cut branches into the car and did a run to the tip. No queue and got parked next to the green waste skip, so the round trip took less than 30 minutes.
Just finished a late lunch/ early dinner, pan fried turkey steaks with red peppers, onions and a dusting of Chinese five spice powder. Then a banana split, currently OH’s favourite dessert. Meals are always more enjoyable after having finished some tasks. I’d still better put a load in the washing machine, but won’t feel guilty or lazy if I don’t do much more this evening.
