Sorry @Ladybird4 don't know how but didn't see your post. Sorry to hear your arm is painfulย and you had a disturbed night's sleep. Hope it eases soon. @Ante1 the shops here are full of Christmas decorations. When I went out on Monday a couple of the shops were already playing Christmas music!!ย London will look very chrismassy, especiallyย Oxford Street and Regents Street. They always looked amazing. Although I haven't been for a few years.ย
Morning all.ย Wet and miserable here but ai have to pop to SM for some bits whilst Oh stays at home awaiting a parcel of two lounge rugs we've ordered. Plus a little xmas present ย I've got ย OH is coming today too.
Ante, I reckon London will be in full swing for Ch***t**s by the time you get thereโบ๏ธ ๐ ๐๐๐ป๐ช ๐๐ . I think our half term starts the week after next.( just in time for Halloween๐).ย
I, too, like the sound of your new door handles Bush, they will complete the new look. Good luck with getting your ID card today.
SGL, I feel for your little grandson. Our son had his tonsils out when he was about 8 but he was getting tonsillitis many times in a year. He lived on ice cream, angel delight, rice pudding etc until the day came when he wanted some Monster Munch( his favourite at the time) and then I knew he was getting better๐
LB, mind the arm today, you seem to have overdone things yesterday, so go easy today and don't lift anything too heavy. Hope you bestie gets over her cold soon, colds are miserable things.
Rubee, pleased to hear your OH and Rosie are feeling a little better.
@Rubee glad to hear both OH and Rosie are feeling better than they were.ย
Thank youย Hazelย @Songbird-2 our eldest son had his out when he was 5 He got tonsillitis so often. He too lived on soft foods for awhile. He stayed in hospital for over a week. Think coming out the same day isn't right for a little one.ย They don't suggest soft food anymore either, how times have changed. I remember having mine out as a small child and living off icecream etc too.ย
I had my tonsils out as a boy because they were too big. I've got a couple of strong memories of my time in hospital. Before I had my op, the girl in the bed next to me was brought back from theatre with blood all over her gown and bedding. After my op, my throat was bone dry, rough and sore, but I was thoroughly looking forward to all the ice cream promised. My first meal was cornflakes with the tiniest amount of milk known to man. It was excruciating to get down. Happy days!ย ย ย
That sounds painful @Biglad. My sister had her tonsils out when she was small at Guy's Hospital and they gave her lots of ice cream! Easy to swallow and the cold helps to stop bleeding.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Thank you @Busy-Lizzie I've spoken to him today and he told me that his mummy had given him a drink and he didn't like it. I said that he must drink it to make his throat better. ( his mum had tried to disguise his medicine, because he is a bit of a pickle taking it)ย He said, But Nanna, it tasted horrible! ๐คฃ I can remember after having my tonsils out having to be rushed back in because of bleeding.ย
I think the theory was for the cornflakes to clear the throat of any leftover debris, but it couldn't have been common practice because all I've heard before and since is tonsilectomy = ice-cream diet!
The e-mail chancers may or may not know that I'll be mortgage-free next year @Ladybird4 but there's more chance of an England double in the Rugby and Cricket World Cups than me ever trying to borrow another penny from anyone Eldest is struggling to get a mortgage because they've got inflexible rules around the length of breaks between contracts if your work takes you from job to job on a regular basis. I couldn't get one 25 years ago and I don't think they'd give me one now! You can have a massive deposit and earn more than the amount you're wanting to borrow a year but, if you have a gap of over a fortnight between contracts anytime in the previous couple of years, they won't consider lending you a penny. All those years ago, we got our mortgage based solely on OH's earnings in the end. Fortunately, she was earning just enough for us to borrow just enough ย ย
