Hello all. Another glorious wet day today! Hope you got all your wet cloth things dried Red maple.
Hazel, what a lovely day you have had. Never mind your nice visit to the GC but the fact that your daughter is home. Brilliant!
Ruby, what a super lot of memories you have stirred up there. I'm sure most of us remember 240 pennies to the pound, along with three penny pieces (threpny bits), tanners, farthings, halfpennies (haypnies) florins and half crowns. That was when money had attitude! I remember Tizer as well.
SGL, I hope that you don't have any adverse affects to your vaccination.
Rugby fest for me today so I'm signing out for now and I'll see you all tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of your day.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I don't recall pre-decimal currency but worry that the next generation won't have any cash at all. I've experienced 'no cash' pubs in London and it seems they have spread northwards. Yesterday, I had a bit of a night out with my best mate from school and one of the 3 pubs we went in "doesn't take cash" now. I was told this after our drinks had been poured. As I had no plastic or phone with me (but mainly because I detest this insidious discrimination), I told them that they'd have to pour them away as I only had real money. Suddenly, they did take cash!! However, they couldn't give change. Absolutely, disgusting behaviour. Anyway, out of my back pocket comes the shrapnel and I count out the exact cost using as many coins as was possible. Hope it irritates them greatly having to bank it!!!
We've had a quiet day, but we spent some time looking at B&Bs in the Lake District for a short holiday next June. Found one we both like and booked it. Hoping to stay with SIL, BIL and friends on the way there and back. I haven't been to the Lake District for 40 years, Daughter 2 was a baby.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@star gaze lily, hope you don't suffer from any after effects from the flu jab. We had ours the other week and apart from a bit of a sore arm, all was good. Β Fingers crossed for you. Good idea to take painkillers as a precaution too. Hope you sleep okay tonight. Biglad, I rarely have actual money in my purse now, always use the card. OH does still like a bit of money in his wallet though but it's not a great deal. Busy, you've had a quiet day? What's up?π²πΒ Here's the wee owl ornament we got today, I think he's lovely......
Please excuse the xmas santa...there's a lollipop inside his head ...it's from23 nearer xmas timeπ Night night all, signing out for now.
Good morning all. Interesting results to the World Cup matches last night and Wigan beating Catalans Dragons will have brought many smiles to my Rugby League friends. I will be glued to England's quarter final match against Fiji later. I have to say that England have been very unimpressive so far.
I must try and get a card for a 6 year old today as it is Bestie's granddaughter's birthday this week. This means I will be forced to go to a GC. Ho hum.
Busy, you have chosen one of my most favourite areas of England for your visit next June.
Hazel, your owl reminds me of Hedwig from the Harry Potter stories.

Morning all. Chilly again this morning. Think we are going to have our window chaps out again as our patio doors, since we replaced the glass units, are covered in condensation in a morning when it's cold.p( as are some other brand new windows).Β I think my rose cuttings are dying. They are not looking very good and one ' stick' looks to be dead, it's all brown. Told you I'm no good at roses...π’

Hurrah, I managed to flip it and reduce the size.
Lovely owl Hazel, and that little blackbird also looks pretty. π
It's raining and it's much cooler. First tea and then I will bake cinnamon biscuits. It's Sunday afterall, and it will be day for stay inside.Β Β
It's much cooler this morning. I've lit the stove. It should be comfortable for gardening later. Weeding needs doing.
Cute owl, Hazel.
