A very good morning one and all.
Sorry to hear that you Mum has covid Hazel. Fingers crossed that she recovers quickly. It would seem that where there are gatherings of people who are visited by lots of others, there is more possibillity to catch it.
@rowlandscastle444, what are a shame for your parents. I do hope they recover quickly in their familiar surroundings.
Rosie, I'm glad that you enjoyed the programme. I also like Douglas Henshall.
What a match that was last night! I was riveted. I also had some lovely surprises as I was sent lots of pictures of my BIL, who sat next to the Princess of Wales and they were talking and laughing. Many of the pictures are on Twitter but as I don't 'do' any of the common social media sites Sis and friends sent them to me. I have yet to find out what they were exchanging views about but that will come later. As I said, it was a lovely surprise.
At the end of the match, one commentator said 'If you are an England supporter, you can come out from behind the sofa!' I want to know how he knew!!!!!

Morning all. Another sweltering night and day to come by the looks of it. We have an impending visit from son and 23 this morning but I doubt much playing around will be done. " Still play " is in order πŸ˜‚
Ive noticed more grape hyacinths popping through in other pots now, they are getting earlier and earlier.
Must dash. Have a good day everyone.
    Hope @debs64 is alright.Β

    Good morning all, hello @Songbird-2
Not had time to read back family issues and work problems have combined with this heat to make me struggle a bit.Β
Our regular pharmacist retired on 1st September and we are managing with logins some better than others. Work has been difficult.Β
FiancΓ© is going through some health issues with his diabetes,he is type 1 and it’s not properly controlled , and isn’t working at the moment. Lovely to have him home but financially not the best. That looks to be improving daily so fingers crossed he will be back to work soon.Β
Youngest daughter ( Toms mom) has made the difficult decision to end her marriage and I am supporting her as much as I can while she sells her home and moves on with her life.Β
My niece has anorexia and my sister is finding that difficult.Β
Life is not easy at the moment and rather than moan on here and upset others who are also coping with their own issues I have been keeping a low profile.Β
I hope you are all well. Take careΒ

    Good morning,
the early morning sunshine has disappeared and there are black clouds looming. It’s very close and still, too, so I don’t think it won’t be long before we have further storms.
I have managed to pop out and dead head a few roses and dahlias before the rain comes. The grass looks healthier again after last nights downpours.
Sorry to read of your difficulties @debs64. No need to keep a low profile though, honestly. 😊
Well, a few jobs beckon, so I’d better get on.

Morning all. Another hot one here but at least we have the sea virtually on the doorstep.

Hazel - sorry to hear your mum has Covid. Fortunately it's much less of a worry now we've all been jabbed up. There is a new variant doing the rounds and our surgery has brought forward their autumn vaccination programme because of it. As I mentioned before, I have heard of quite a few people who have gone down with it in recent weeks. It's been nothing more than a bad cold for them which is reassuring.

Debs - all the regular posters on this thread have had their problems at one time or another and we've all been grateful for the support we've received from our friends on here. You have a lot of difficult things going on at the moment. We have huge shoulders so never, ever worry about offloading to us. Sometimes it helps just a bit to do it.πŸ™‚

Lb - glad you enjoyed the match - sounds like a thriller! I've forgotten, but is your BIL a high-up in English rugby? I assume he must be to have such a coveted seat for the match. If I went to Wimbers I sure as heck wouldn't have any chance of a seat in the royal box!

My "job" ,@Red Maple is all done for today (πŸ˜‚) 23 and son have departed and I can have a restπŸ˜‚ It's still quite muggy here but the temps are beginning to drop now from this morning, getting ready for the rains and thunderstorms, no doubt, that we've been forecast for later on today.
@debs, @Topbird has summarised it beautifully. Don't ever think we don't have time to offer our help and support( albeit only an online support) when times gets tough. I certainly hope your fiancés health issues can be stabilised soon and then, hopefully, he may feel ready to return to the work environment. One step at a time though, health before work. I'm sorry to read you're having it tough at work too plus your family issues. Everything always come all at the same time, don't they? Makes it all the more hard to cope with. I was also sorry to hear about your daughter but she has to look after herself and children and do what's best for everyone. Chin up....one day at a time.....hingis will gradually work out, slowly but steadily🀞
    @Topbird, Im just a little worried due to Mum's age ( 102).Β
@l@Ladybird4, LB, oooo...fame at last...although somewhat removed πŸ˜‚ Must be exciting to watch such events live though and beside such distinguished company, even better!

LB, in case I can't dig up rose at mums, ( maybe too big) could you tell me how to take a cutting please and what to do? I've never had much success with roses but would really like to try and get something from Mum's one. I've never done it before though ( taking a cutting) so have no idea what to do, what medium to put it in and how to look after it thereafter. Thanks.

    Good afternoon all.
@debs64, I can only back up what @Red maple, T'Bird and Hazel have written. Please do not steer clear of venting and getting things off your chest. I found huge solace in just being able to chat on here during last year when I knew my youngest brother's condition was terminal. Being able to just chat and comment kept me from going crazy. You have got so many upsetting things going on around you at the moment and if telling us lot helps to take some of the load, then you do not need to hesitate. x

Hazel, if you were thinking of moving the whole plant you can cut it right back taking all shoots to dormant buds near to ground level. These dormant buds are found where leaf stalks grow from the stems. You can then dig up the rose with as many roots as possible and keep these moist - inside an old empty compost bag is any easy way to do it until you get it home to plant in your garden. I have successfully moved roses this way.
I found a lot of helpful information here about taking rose cuttings:
p.s. you could use the shoots you remove to form cuttings.
